Sansui 331 Refurb Sansui

Hi Chaps, I've got 2 Sansui 331's that I'm currently refurbing. I am fairly inexperieed but not a total newb. I have put new vinyl on both and replaced the lamps with LEDs, cleaned the pots etc. Both sound great, however one of the lamps do not light up at all when switched on, everything else works fine but no lights. Does anyone have any idea what might be up?

wrong hook up as the led is directional and maybe the 331 has ac power to the lamps, IDK didn't look at the scat

Thanks for the reply, DC current to the lamps and the same LEDs work fine in the other unit. I'll double check the connections tonight but they look good and I resoldered most of them.

Hi Jim....have found the LED fuse type lamps fairly reliable...sometimes found when they didn't light for me that the actual holder for the LED lamp was tarnished/dirty and needed cleaning...

Hi MacMillan, thanks for the reply. Got the multimeter out this morning and checked the connections - fine. Then I checked the fuses and bingo! Should have been the first thing I checked.

Cold solder joint on the lamp bracket that isn't working? I had that on my 661, it's a common problem from what I've read.

I’m having the same problem with my Sansui 331 - got sound but no lights, just put LEDs in and I’m guessing it’s a fuse issue too, but there are two on the board one towards the back one closer to the front - which one did you replace and why do I have sound - thanks for your help


EDIT - I did the obvious and swapped out both fuses - good to go!
