Sansui 6060 no sound both channels

I interpret 'OL' as OverLoad (or Out of Limits?) - which might mean the voltage readings were checked while on the wrong multimeter range?

The above scenario is based on the pictured DC offset readings where one of them shows 'OL' and the meter is set for 200mV DC for this reading.

Yeah I'm with you on this. We have what appears to be three offset readings from one channel and one reading from the other channel.
The offset readings could be jumping around on that one channel. (wandering diff pair maybe?)

I find it can be hard to get both parties on the same wavelength when remote troubleshooting. But I do the best I can to adapt.
I even get it right sometimes

Yes got jumping readings that is why I made multiple measurements, to be honnest I don't know how to interpret thoses results.

For the others measurements I'm not sure I did it well, can you confirm what should I select on my DMM to perform thoses readings ?

How did you have the meter set? Looking to measure DC volt at these points.
Where was the ground lead attached?
Assuming you had the power on.
It should have close to the voltages I indicated.
It was on 200mV DC with the negative probe on chasis. And with the power on.

Check it at the + end of C610 around +37 volts. (Cathode end of D609)
At the junction of R606 and ZD602 around +24 volts (Cathode end of ZD602)
While you are there the voltage at the Anode end of ZD602
So ! I re check those with 1000 range selected, and after 200.
And got 23 V on C610, 23.4 on ZD602 + and - end.
You guys are right stayed on 200mV for thoses measurements the first time. Was pretty tired when I've performed theses. :p

Was this for the voltage readings on the PS board as well?

The jumping readings are not really unusual, the amount of change is a small concern but good enough for now.

I don't see an auto function on your meter dial. For manual ranging you want to set the meter for a higher maximum voltage than you expect to see.

For the power board checks select 200 volts. You wont get as much resolution for lower voltages but you can always step down a range if needed.

In fact you can use that setting for most any voltage check you need to make in vintage stereo except things that should be in the mV range.

If you measured the offset in the 2 volt range all of the reading would have been after the decimal point.
Likely would have said 00.20 volts or some variation. You would need to move the decimal point in you head to go oh that's 200mV.

Not all meters behave the same but it gives you and idea

No worries you're doing great I'm just a little bit slow sometimes more used to work on the software side not the hardware

Yes unfortunately :whip:

Yes that's what I figured out when reading you guys

Was the relay closed when you measured across ZD602?

No if it did not click then it is open. You more than likely have a clear case on the relay. You should hear it click closed and if you watch it you should see movement in the guts.

I used to see it moves but now it's not moving at all. Does it mean I have to replace it ?

I don't think the relay needs replaced.

The transistor that turns it on/off may be weak/bad. It is fairly common.
The power supply for the relay circuit may have an issue, more below.
Or the protection circuit is doing its job and there is a problem in the power amp.

When you were checking the offsets do you know if the relay was closed? It needs to be closed for those measurements to be meaningful.

Do you have a capacitor that you can put in at the C610 location? 47uF at 50volts or better. A 100uF would work as well.

Check the DC voltage at the base of TR601.

Please pull fuse F604 and check it with ohm meter.

Since the relay didn't clicked I assume it was open ! But have a question maybe stupid one : Could the relay stay close ? I mean stuck closed ?

Hope it's serviceable !

I don't have that one on hand, I'll try to pick some tomorrow !

Check the DC voltage at the base of TR601.
Got 0.600 V.

Please pull fuse F604 and check it with ohm meter.
Got between 2.6 and 3 ohms, means that he's good right ?

Hello,
I've replaced every resistor, capacitors and transistors on board F-2701, I've also replaced power transistors.
Since that got the relay click but the R609 started to smoke. Did something wrong ?
