sansui 661 vs sansui seven

what do you guys think? I've got a sansui seven and I was thinking of picking up the 661. But if the seven is equal or greater, I wont bother. any opinions on this? I'm trying to find out the differences now. love my seven.

I think the Seven would be quite better.

I have had a 661 and have an 881 and an eight Deluxe. I would take the Eight Deluxe over the 881 every time.

The 661 is not a bad receiver, I just doubt it's as good as the Seven.

Thats what I was thinking after I asked the seller about it. I've got a marantz 2226b, I wonder how the 661 would fair against that. maybe I'll just suck it up and hold out for an AU something, or the 9090db I keep waiting for. lol. I just get so excited when I see "sansui"

I get that feeling too.

Personally, I'm trying to ween myself off of the MOTL receivers and save my pennies to complete the AU/CA stuff I've found.

It's hard to pass up good deals on nice little Sansui receivers, though.

I think the best buy in that type of receiver is an 8080. I see them frequently, and at about half the cost of a 9090 or db... Remember the wood case from a 9090 will fit perfectly, replacing the "wood grain vinyl" covered original.

I wouldn't even look at a 661 unless it was dirt cheap, and I had an immediate use for it, like a gift.

Sixes, Sevens and Eights are still vastly underrated in the community. They are FINE receivers.

I have enjoyed the 771 for a couple of years now and a Six as well, for the same duration. . I have two examples for each model . The 771's , or for that matter, the whole XX1 series sounds alright and is built to match. Average. The single digit 6 to 8 Deluxe is anything but alright and average. Search for some fine pics of the two lines and I'm sure you'll understand. What you'll also discover is the quantity of availability , tons of XX1 models. Not so of the single digits.
Your Seven will blow away the 661 in every aspect. Cheers to your ears !
