Sansui 9090 re-cap gone bad

Your caps seems fine to me.

DBT
Be sure outputs are ok and with the mica pads.
On power supply

Check C09 and C08 for short ( not usual but can happen)
I bet D02, D03 are ok.
Check D01
 
Verify the 8 output transistors at the back of the unit, make sure none are shorting or shot, replace if needed. Replace the blown fuses, pull out the F2436 driver amp and fire it up on a DBT.
What's the bulb doing? Out of protection? Don't get off DBT yet.

The unit does come out of protection mode (green light) with the F2436 driver board removed.

I'm checking c09, c08, and d01 on f2556 power supply now, De-soldering tool is warming up, Ill get right back to you with the results.....

That's vital info. Good! The driver amp is also the only board we haven't seen pictures of yet. You may want to review this thread before you verify your F2436 driver amp components. Once again - do not power up the unit w/o a DBT, especially when testing with the driver amp installed.

Not necesary, the problem is probably on F-2436, go with Tnsilver post, is pure gold:thumbsup:

on f2456 power supply C8 according to what is shown on cap should be .01 uf and reads 9.66nf. According to the cross reference chart I found on line .01uf =10nf, so I think its ok.

Same with c9 oe is .01uf. actual is 9.60 nf. should be ok

I checked d1 on f2546 and across one leg shows .561 and the other shows .551, I think this is ok too.

Outputs I believe are ok all 8 test around the same 0.5xx mica pads are all in place.

Oh that's very important.
Look for any broken pad on your board. What else did you replace on that board?

Here is a copy of my notes, witch shows everything I replaced on the boards, the components original value and the actual value

Here is a pic of the driver board f2436 after the re-cap, I was able to test this after the re-cap, it was the first board I did.

- With F2436 in place unit do not comes out of protection.
- Unit was working fine with F2436 recapped
- After recap all others boards, fuses start to blow.
- No semiconductors were replaced
- 'fusistors" were replaced

Right?

the caps should be replaced by it's original polarity, not by PCB stenciling, check your photos
of the before against what you have now. skip the non-electrolytics, bi-polars, and focus
on only those that are polarized.

if only one is reversed - can destroy one or more caps and cause fuses to blow.

Thank you, I'll look over all the re-caped boards again for polarity issues.
 
You used bipolar caps on the power supply board? There are a bunch on there, can't remember off hand what values they are?? The 4 on the left...

The unit blows the 10 amp fuse with F2436 driver board installed or removed.

The unit does come out of protection mode with F2436 driver board installed or removed.

The unit did work fine after I re-caped F2436 driver board, and still worked after i re-caped f2546 power supply, and f2541 Equalizer board, then I quit checking.
no semi conductors, just caps and fusistors and tr1,2,3,4 on f2436.
