If this is a 9090, and not a 9090db, all the power transistors are identical NPN devices and therefore it makes no difference where they go.

thank you for the answer to my question. my bad the receiver i have is a 9090db can you tell me where the power trans go on the 9090db. thanks mike.
Post that in your thread, so someone with a 9090db can help (and I did this for you ;)). The manual shows where they are supposed to be, but I don't trust Sansui manuals for 1/4 of the distance I can throw them. And I have no 9090db here to check for you.

Other than that, all I can suggest is to find the wire that runs to the collector pin of the transistor sockets that the transistors plug into. With the driver board removed, you can power the unit up with the power transistors removed, and then measure the voltage on the collector pin of the socket. I can't remember the supply voltages, but for 120WPC, you should measure in the upper 50V for the NPN's, and in the upper -50V for the PNP's.

9090DB? Now I can help.

If no one else does before tonight, I will post a pic of the unit or manual.

Looking at the rear of the receiver.

Let me know if that makes sense.

The manual is correct in this instance.
