Sansui 9090DB on its way

I think you should double down and have it fully restored but likely not at that shop. I think a full resto would run 500-600. That will insure trouble free play for years. A clean fully restored 9090DB with docs to back up resto work is worth 1500.00 By paying 300.00 for cold solder joints and lamps is silly! Do all the work once, write the check and be done! Do your research here who the best sansui mechanics are and ship unit to them. On another note a way of saving time and money is having that tech lined up before purchase and having unit shipped directly to them. Shipping a 9090 can cost close to 100.00!
 
Well, picked her up today and plugged in the Wharfedale Dentons and spun some vinyl and oh mama does it sound good! Couldn't be happier with it! Going to be long (loud) afternoon of listening to music!
 
Thanks for all the help guys! It is a beast of a receiver. I'm glad no one was recordi me trying to lift it to the original spot I was going to put it in my built. Ended up putting it on a lower shelf haha.
 
Quick question for the Sansui experts. Is it normal for the left channel to have slightly less output than the right? It seems to be quieter when I change the balance to the left side and I noticed the meter isn't moving as much on that side. Thanks for the help!
 
Yeah that's what I was thinking but it seems to be the same on the records I was playing today and on the tuner. Seemed kind of weird.
 
Did some more listening today and I think it may be dependent on the music I'm listenin to. I put on Tommy James and The Shondells and there are a few tracks with a nice left/right separation and the levels seemed to be accurate...as far as my ear was concerned. Not sure if it's worth lugging back to the shop for a non issue.

Also, the green light isn't on but based on what I read on the forum it shouldn't be an issue as long as I hear the relay click, which I have.
 
I know I know, but I'm a perfectionist and if the meters aren't exactly in synch or one side sounds quiter I'm going to freak out! But, in all seriousness I'll play it by ear (pun intended) and see if anything changes.

But, boy oh boy it sounds nice. Very rich and warm sounding receiver. Very nice pairing with my Wharfedale Dentons. Which is whole 'nother story that in posted in the Wharfedale Denton mega thread....
 
Getting that unit recapped will be night and day! I recapped an 890, and did a side by side with my 9090 and was blown away by how much more oooomph the 890 has. The 9090 is next!
 
I think that is my long term goal. Need to upgrade my turntable now so that is where my funds are going! Thanks for the advice!
