Sansui AU-555 (and AU-222) On-Off switch alternative?

It has been a while since my last post, but that does not mean I haven't been busy.....

Currently working on a Sansui AU-555 which was totally neglected by the previous owner. I am trying to make her beautiful and working again, and for that I need your help.

Unfortunately I cannot get the Power On/Off switch working, I wasn't working when I got the amp, and after disassembling and cleaning I still cannot make it "turn" from on to off.

Doe anybody have experience with making this switch work again? And if we decide the switch is really dead, what would be a good alternative for this special shaped switch?

And, since you are reading this....did anybody figure out what the exact color is of this amp's cover? The previous owner painted it black.......

Your help is highly appreciated,

Ruud from The Netherlands.

I have replaced that type of switch with one available at the hardware store. It is a push on push off switch for a table lamp. It mounts with a bushing and nut in a similar fashion, but it has wires rather than terminals, so some wiring changes need to be made.

Hi Bob,

That might be an excellent idea. Do you remember how you found this solution? I live in The Netherlands, so need to start looking online I suppose
