Hi Sansui experts I'm in closing stages of finishing my sansui AU-717 restoration all was going well with the usual full recap replaced fuse resistors trimmers etc and playing well however I've come across a fault which is puzzling me. I decided to replace the common vd1212 varistors on the eq board and tone board with a pair of 1n4148 diodes in series as has been commonly suggested however since doing this the amp goes into protection mode as soon as any volume is increased from min. What could I have done wrong? I've added a photo of an example of wiring the diodes thanks in advance for any advice!

Wiring them in parallel AND back-to-back gives them NO chance at all. :)

+1 What he said. ^ They are in parallel and reversed polarity basicly blocking current flow in either direction.

If I understand this correctly, I have to use two 1N4148 for one VD1212. On the Sansui CA-2000 power supply board there are two VD1212 in series. To replace them, do I need to solder four 1N4148 in series?
