Sansui AU-9500 switch required

Hello All,

This is my first on this forum. I have managed to get hold of a sansui Au-9500, which is more of less fully working . However the NR adapter switch is faulty on the front panel. As this is part of the pre-amp circuitry the only way the amp works is if I adjust the switch to is half way setting, which obviously "makes" the contact inthe switch.
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement. The sansui Part number is 1170300

The problem may only be a couple of contacts out of position or just plain dirty and oxidised and in need of a clean - VERY common in vintage gear.

If it really is 'broken' you may at one time have been able to get one here:-

But 2 position lever switches for that model appear to be 'sold out' - however, I only did a very quick search, and I guessed at the switch description.

The only other place is ebay - when someone 'parts-out' a unit, which happens from time to time - but be prepared for a long wait.

With Vintage Ownership you need to understand that some parts have not been made for at least 30 years, so any stock of same will have been exhausted long ago. So, you mostly hope, and try to improvise, sometimes you can find a modern product that does the same job. But may need ingenuity to make it fit and at the same time, and with luck, appear exactly the same as the original. ;)

Just a note: I read some other AK forum post from people having trouble getting something from the sansui-parts-shop.

Sadly it appeared that its owner has deceased after a long time of illness, not long ago.
 
Thanks for the replies. When I was looking for sansui parts , I came across this website , but there were warning all over it that it wasnt a safe site to go on, so didnt bother looking.

I have been looking around and it looks like some of the highend pioneer equipment uses switches which look very similar. Does anyone know the manufacturer of these switches.

I think i need to study the pin out of the Sansui switch and see if there is a similar one Pioneer use. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Ok, I think Pioneer and Sansui may use the same switches but not sure. The ALPS Schalter Switchs look very similar to the sansui, its just a case of trying to work out which one it is.
 
What makes you think your switch is unrepairable? :idea:

Just because the switch is misbehaving doesn't mean it's a total loss. :angel:

I have already made a bit of head way into repair it. Just by using switch cleaner, I will keep persisting with this and may end up taking it apart. However, i am still looking for an alternative just in case
