Sansui AU-X701, I can't wait..

Regarding the processor button being used for sub-woofers...I'm still not sure.

I was not able to decipher the schematic for this circuit.

The specs indicate that the processor send jacks put out 150mV with 47Kohm impedance. It does not state 'variable'. But then again, the processor return jacks also state 150mV with 47 Kohm impedance. It doesn't state "maximum" input.

I'm not going to hook my EQ in just to experiment. I'll read the owners manual and see what it says about the processor button.

Both the owners and service manuals are available at HiFi Engine.

The owners manual just reiterates the same info.

I'm 99.5% confident that the output at the processor send jacks is set at 150mV.

You'd have to have gain controls within reach on an active crossover to run subs.

...and, damaged in shipping. A piss poor packaging job didn't give this amp much of a chance.

Very surprising from a 100% feedback seller with over 5,000 feedbacks received. :tears:

How bad is it? Sorry to hear that, they're such nice looking beasts. Does it work at all??

Well, most people could probably live with it. On the faceplate, the bottom two corners (which are like a plastic clip) are both chipped. There is a scrape on the bottom center corner of the faceplate where you can see bare metal. Also a sizeable dent in the cabinet on the left hand side edge about half way back.

All in all, most of that wouldn't really be noticeable while in-situ and it works just fine still (and sounds as nice as I remember).

I'm just bummed. I'm actually very picky about the cosmetic condition of my gear and keeping this would require me to either:

a. Find parts to restore it to previous condition (probably not realistic.)
b. Enhance my calm considerably and find a way to "live with it" (probably less realistic.)

Ugh. :sigh:

Aw man, im sorry that's horrible. I had a recent experience with an ebay seller and an onkyo sacd player that parallels yours. Bottom panel corners were bent. Flimsy box and crumpled newspaper for packaging. Ugh. It wasn't a sansui obviously so doesn't truly compare. Again, rating was high on the seller.

Oh, sorry about the shipping problem.
I have the Japanese equivalent, mine is here to stay.

Can this model be used as a preamp? Does it have preamp outs? I have an AU 919 and it would be an interesting comparison. It's definitely no slouch. Thanks

It can be used as a pre-amp, one of the best, I will post later on how I did it.

Well, the seller is going to accept a return. I will be packing it up and sending it back tomorrow. The hunt continues... :smoke:

Excellent. Good work and a wise decision.

I've found if you pay the seller a little bit extra...they will pack it the exact way that 'YOU tell them' to. It's well worth the extra cost. Works for me. Took me awhile, and a few pieces of damaged equipment, and one totally smashed early NOS Sansui TT, in my early Sansui buying days, to figure THAT ONE out. $25 will do the packaging trick. And FedEx it...not UPS. Everything I have ever had damaged was shipped by UPS, just sayin...

Find yourself a really nice AU-X901!

Good Luck marantzfan!!

Man, this sucks. Sorry to hear about it and good luck with the continued search. Maybe you're just meant to have an AU-x901...
