Wow!! You have a big job on your hands there Pepa.......:thmbsp:

Im sure it will be as good, if not better than new when you have finished with it.....It is in good hands.....

Nice pics too.......:thmbsp:

I don't think so Kevin (but I'll do my best),this amp has suffered a lot,and the butcher was inside :tears:

Originals are 2SA908/2SC1585.....(according to the service manual). The 2SA909 and 2SC1586 are higher voltage equivalents, and Sansui may have used them in this amp also. Hard to say what the hell they do sometimes.....

According to my SM they used both 2SB556/2SD424 and 2SA908/2SC1585.:thmbsp:

Pepa, I really must say you that amp has so much working hours...

I would check all... fusible resistors, zenners, small signal transistors (check Hfe)... sometime, those green foil capacitors can make troubles, especially when it worked at high temperature as in that amplifier.

...Hey , Pepa...!

..I just don't want to disturb You & the other Technicians , especially in this delicate case ....

...Great Job , keep on trying to get this part of Definition-series back to life - it'll be worth every hour of ,,Headbreaking , Mind-aching'' electronical Craftmanship...

...Somehow it reminds me of my BA5K , it was Love at first sight.....:D

Greets & Respect , Deubi....

Hey Deubi
you aren't disturbing anybody, and your comments are welcomed :thmbsp:

In fact you are one to blame because my amp last night made puf :yikes:
I read your post while I was putting together all this pcb, wasn't concentrated and one cap made puf in sec...in five sec to be precise.

I'm just kidding Deubi :D

But to tell the truth, amp did made puf.
Midnight had passed ,I am tired as a dog but still working on amp,and as soon as I turned it on... one capacitor has gone to heaven :D
After some xxxx words,a deep breath and counting to ten. What went wrong?:scratch2:

I wrongly connected two wires (labeled 29 and 30),and one cap on connector board cooked

Thank God, everything else is ok...amp is running all day...bias on both ch's is rock solid...life is good :music:

Good news Pepa !

+1 obvious signs a butcher has been at work - but I think you have rescued it very well. :thmbsp:

Now that I think about it.... I have seen an AU-20000 (I think I've worked on close to all of them) loaded with the Toshiba devices, and the installation was stock looking. They may have used them also.
At any rate, they are all good parts.

tnx John,
although the amp is working well,I'm not super satisfied...I don't know...maybe is just me....or because all of my Sansui is in "as new" condition .
Anyway, I would like to purchase one pair of these gorgeous amplifiers

I don't know if you've done it, but I would run it on some test equipment. Especially in the shape that one was in....
