This pre amp C-2102 is new, it's been kept all these years, so I don't think I need to do any updates...
The C-2102 is on its way to my house, I should receive it next week, let's see how it behaves with the B-2102 MOS Vintage, I have a HEGEL H360 to fight them...
Regards from Japan! And I’m curious to hear your impressions of the Sansui vs the Hegel.
Allow me to differ a bit though. Despite the fact that your pre is basically an unused unit, the electrolytic capacitors will degrade with time. The smaller caps tend to dry out faster. (Though Sansui’s use of good quality caps has proven to go a long way, and they usually still test pretty much within spec from what I have experienced and read. These tests have been ESR meter tests, which have their limits.)
None the less, approach energizing the pre with care and follow cap re-forming protocols.
Better still, find a good tech who can put that thing on an O scope to really figure the health of that pre.
I bought one of these recently and need to go through it and do the relays and caps and some cleaning and change some bulbs. Digging up this thread and looking for a list of caps different types for the different sections. I'm not pro service tech but did my citation seventeen and it sound fantastic. I have the values but need help with the different types in the non PS section. Do the EU version have different cap values? I can buy a kit from EU for a 2101 not sure if its the same ?
