Sansui G-7500 Parts?

Hi,
I have a nice G-7500 and my Tech told me the complete Power Board F-2980 is toast and could not be repaired.

I would hate to sell this Stereo for parts.

Wondering if anyone knows where I may find this board???

Nothing on the Bay.

If that board was truly unrepairable there would be collateral damage affecting the whole receiver. Pictures of the board would help a great deal, we want to see what problem you've got there.

Modern tech's just don't seem to 'get' that with vintage electronics 'whole board swap-outs' are virtually unheard of - you repair what you've got - improvise and overcome. You'll probably be able to fabricate a new board faster than you can find a replacement board from a unit being parted out. :angel:

I'm busy today, installing new Range Hood for the Stove for the Boss.

I'll see if I can open it up and take some pics ASAP!

The problem is, can I afford someone, to take the time to fix it correctly?

That is why I was looking for a board swap out.

Ok, found out I had some time and pulled the cover and here is the pics.

I did not see any burning or smell, but what do I know?

It needs a new cabinet, and the bottom cover painted, but I can do that, if I can get some one to refurb it???

Thanks, no I bought it in supposedly easily repairable condition...

Or so I was told.

When my Tech got in it, he said someone had been in before and he did not want to deal with it, I guess???

I love Sansui's and am now listening to a G-6700 as I type this.

I want to get this fixed but don't want to hand someone, "Mission Impossible"!
 
I’m confident the right tech, especially one with experience with the infamous F-2980 could get this repaired. There is also a lot of corrosive glue used around the P/S section caps that should be addressed as well as it is a ticking time bomb. I had tried to swap a F-2980 board from G-6700 into the G-7500 that was toasted with no luck. It’s still waiting for me to go back and repair the original burnt board I posted above. Someday.
 
I don't know any techs in Florida, but I am sure someone will chime in. That is repairable. Something drew a lot of current on that board, probably the output transistors are blown on one channel. If that's all it is, you're probably looking at $250 labor and maybe $50 in parts. It is possible that the unit had been subjected to a powerline surge or lightning strike. A good tech will disconnect the amp and make sure that everything else is working before proceeding with the estimate.

Thanks Gentlemen, it may not be as bad as I thought!

I'm a little upset, that the Tech, I used, did not fix it ,as I'm sure he was capable of it.

Hopefully, someone with the talent and resources, to fix this, will reply...

The money that Dr. Audio mentioned is doable.

This puppy is heavy and no doubt $100 shipping, to and from.

Someone in Central Florida, that I could take it to, would be nice!
