IMO, no, unless you like a rather dim display. The 9000/901 uses only one bulb at each far end of the tuner display.

Thats interesting Dave and Glenn. I have used the 8V 150MA lamps in one of my units and I can't really say there is that much difference.
I did note a difference when one side had the original while the other had a new 8V 150. The solution was to keep both sides the same value.
With 2 G 9000s side by side in total dark, one with all original bulbs and one with new 8V 150s there is a difference in brightness but not enough to detract from the beauty in any way. IMHO one would need two units side by side to tell the difference or a unit with different bulbs on each side.
The pains you go thru attaching the leads to the higher value wedge lamps is a deff. drawback for us hackers and the wire leads are a much easier fix.
Too bad you can't get them to make the 250MAs with wire leads. :yes:
