That looks to be a very sweet unit. However, having a troll latch onto the highest $$$ mentioned in a thread is somewhat depressing. I can only take solace in the fact that he'll never get anywhere close to that via a CL ad and likely hasn't the experience to properly merchandise it on ebay. I suspect that he truly knows not what he has. I truly hope that it doesn't just languish in a damp basement for the next few years. What a waste that would be. :tears:

Anyone who didn't see that coming?
Hey, I was in the same boat when I first came as well. A little Google search, stumble upon a thread here at AK and here I am. It happens all the time. I just hope that he sticks around to learn a bit more as many of us have.

Will he get his asking price of $2K on CL? I doubt it.

Will he come back here to learn why? Dunno.

Will he have an epiphany and suddenly have an appreciation for what he was given? Not likely unless he spends a bit of time here.

AK is a Godsend for some and merely a brief sounding board for others. There are those with the passion to hear (no, I didn't misspell that) and stay, the rest are best left to move on and find their own missions.

Funny...claims in the original post that he does not have a digital camera to post pictures here...where did the pictures in the CL ad come from...

Sometimes we are our worst enemy...

Newbie comes on board, gets a few very enthusiastic valuations, and boom! Off to EBay land. He can end up with $2K for that, but why pay top dollar for something that needs a good sort, refurb, and buff when you can get all that for the same $, already accomplished?

I read and reread the original thread a couple of times , I don't think they ever wanted it to begin with . Would like to know if the original owner knows what's going on . If they do what they think about this new development .

Some Bad Karma maybe ....:scratch2:

Sometimes we are our worst enemy...
Dave:

True 'nuff. But, let that not stop us from welcoming and offering whatever knowledge we have garnered during our stay here. Were it not for the unselfish sharing when I first arrived, I might not still be here. I came looking for a valuation when I first landed here, got the requisite "stay a while before asking" responses and a few truly insightful posts that pulled me deeper into what AK had to offer. Those that take the hints will become contributing members. For those that allow the wisdom to fly past their eyes, they (and we) are likely better off apart. However, even they might return at some later date when the "itch" becomes more well implanted if they have a pleasant memory of their first AK encounter.

I am with Dave on this one. I needed to figure out which Marantz to buy for how much and where to get surround foams for my old speakers. Over a year later I am still here, spending about 2 hours a day (sometimes less sometimes more) on AK learning, chatting, commenting...

It is something weird going on. I was trying to find an original thread but got a message "you do not have permission to access this page..." Anyone has a clue what is going on?
But that is not what I want to discuss. If I remember an original thread correctly (and that's why I wanted to re-read it before posting) a new owner didn't have a clue what he was getting and what was this receiver's history.
However CL listing reads "...opportunity to finally own an audio classic that has been extremely well maintained and cared for. " and "She has lived since purchase in a smoke free home."
Well cared for and lived since purchase in a smoke free home? How does he possibly know? I am not about to call him a liar, but it doesn't sound right to me.
I assume this seller is the same guy who started an original thread.

I too got the "you do not have permission..." message. And I don't remember the original thread. Guess I'm just hosed.

The original post on the G22000 from the (presumed) owner was likely deleted as the thread got very ugly with accusations, counteraccusations, etc. about scam/no-scam with the (presumed) owner and an AK member who made an inquiry trading barbs. It wasn't pretty.
