Sansui rack setups - would love to see them!

Here's one of my systems in a GX-7 rack.

Sansui had quite a rack lineup at one point.

KeithD - 'Thank you' for that GX advertisement! Never seen it before.

I've always 'really liked' the GX-7! The GX-7 was the first Sansui cab I wanted to get. :) Yours looks pristine!

I found, have, & use a NOS GX-100, I truly love it!! It just makes me happy!! It just 'looks cool' beyond belief, like 'modern art'.

Yeah, I was not looking for a rack when that one came to me. Local guy bought it from someone with some other gear. He knew I collected Sansui, so he pointed it out to me right away the next time I saw him. When I saw it, I knew I just had to have it. It is only missing the wire record dividers for storing records on the bottom. Only complaint is it's not wide enough for my 9090!

Here's an ad for the GX-7 and GX-5 from Audio Times.

And a color one for the GX-7.

I've got a handful of old racks, they used to be a few dollars at the thrifts but I never saw Sansui. Some of these wouldn't be too hard to copy with close up photos of the the track system, I don't think you/re cheating with an upgraded version and you could look a long time to find the original and usually it's full of equipment.

Finishing my AU-417 restoration was the last piece to put together the GX-5 rack I found in February. New 5mm stainless rods for record stops. New casters. New handle screws. And recently picked up the TU-717 and SC-3110, with handles, to complete the collection. Will be swapping an AU-517/717/919 in over the coming months (years). The @Leestereo spec AU-417 delivering excellent SQ currently. Really enjoying the look and sound of this system. Happy Place.

Found a GX-5 with an AU-217/TU-217/SC-3110 at the dump about ten years ago. Aside from belts, it all worked perfectly.

Wow. That is what is known as a SCORE :). I had to race 2+ hours across the state line to pick up my GX-5 before someone else got to it. Worth it. Very cool piece.

I can see from the brochure you’ve got space for airflow under the amp, but looks like not much space above with the tuner directly above. Does the AU get warm/hot?

Good eye - I perseverated over that gap! And I have an AT-15L I could use above the amp. In the end I left a small space between the face plates. Ran it all day with no heat issues. I’ll have to keep an eye on the AU-515/717/919 when it’s their turn. The AU-417 seems to be doing fine.

Interesting the brochure shows the stack, with the AU-717, tight.

fwiw my AU-417 hardly becomes warm after hours of play (there's mostly empty space inside it), while my AU-919 becomes quite hot.

You might need to put the 919 on the bottom with the tape deck above it since it is not as deep as the tuner. Another option is to put a fan somewhere to move the air in or out of the 919.

Rack attack. Handy when squeezing all the Sansui gear into a single family photo - plus some non-Sansui odds and ends

I'd like another rack plus a genuine Sansui accessories drawer

I have several GX-5 rack systems in various rooms, this first pic was taken in a bedroom that I turned into a music room for the stereo equipment and my guitars. So, if I am not hanging out in the basement where I have alot of audio equipment as well, I can come up to this room. Every now and then, I tend to rearrange some things. It takes a bit of effort to find a way to coordinate things in a cohesive way, lots of cables, lots of things to plug into outlets and power strips and so forth. The GX-5 is great, but you have to be very careful when moving it along its wheels, it can tip over and get damaged. I also have a Studio Trends rack on the right side, it has a large surface on top that is good for the Tascam M-1516 mixing board. The amp on top of the GX-5 is my AU-D11 II.

ps: I recently put together another GX-5 setup for some of my guitar effects, no room for the TA-500 to put within it, so that stays on top for now.

Pic might be fuzzy, hard sometimes to get a crisp pic with my cellphone and the lighting in the room. I dont like to stack anything on top of amps, the Sony sacd player is just there temporarily.
