Sansui SR-323 Anti-Skate Weight Setup

I have the original bias weight for this table and it was setup. I turned it over to access the bottom and forgot to take the weight off first; it fell off and I cannot fit the life of me figure out how it's originally attached. There is no reference to this metal peg on the end of the wire, opposite the weight, anywhere on the Internet. There also is no scan of the owner manual, just the service manual which doesn't show how too stop the weight. HELP! I understand that the weight hangs from the notched horizontal post above tonearm, then through the little wire loop hanger, I just can't figure out where the peg fits into this equation. ?? Thanks in advance for any help on this one!

That corntraption doesn't belong to your turntable. It should look like this, more or less. That might be from some other turntable altogether but not one I recognize.

No worries though, you can buy similar ones to the original online or make your own with lead shot and nylon thread or very light fishing line.

This is how the anti-skate weight hangs on the SME arm. Maybe it'll help you.

You'll note how the pole with the slots points in the opposite direction from yours. That's why the weight is on the opposite side, in the SME.

Thanks for the replies! The thing that really gets me is that metal peg on the end of the weight line; it was installed somewhere and I cannot figure out where. I believe it's original to the table, but can't find a single picture of one of these on the entire www showing the Anti-Skate weight setup. All pics are either from the wrong angle or the table is missing the weight completely. I don't want to cut the peg off and modify this, especially if it's a very rare original part. I should mention I'm repairing this table for a friend; off it were mine I would probably just modify it and call it a day but I want to keep it how it was given to me.

I'm starting to think this might not be the original weight. I was pretty certain before because the table had been in storage for a long time, had original sv-111 cartridge and the owners aren't the type to modify the table or even know what "Anti-Skate" is. After looking for OEM replacements the weights all seem to be cylindrical, not conical like I have. If it helps the weight I have is 2.13g.

Is the piece's pin diameter similar to the size of the pole that has four slots on it (on the pivot of the toneram)? Maybe the small stub replaces that slotted pole?

Like the SR-525 arm?

It's possible, it looks like the slotted pole is removable; that 525 arm looks identical other than that. This weight was installed though and the slotted pole is still installed. It seems as though the nylon string on the weight is too short as well; by the time the headshell gets to the inner part of the record the weight is pulled all the way up to the little rod holder. I'm starting you think this wasnt original and someone just had it hanging there for looks. This one's really got me baffled! Maybe I'll by a proper replacement and get it setup and just keep this other weight as an extra for now....

You can find premade anti-skate weights on eBay. You just need to know the OEM weight and approximate length of the line.

Good luck!
