Saving ebay web pages???

I know I've done this before, but I just tried to save a couple of completed auctions on ebay, and while it appears to be saving the page, I get a critical stop, and "this web page cannot be saved". I'm using IE, in XP. What's up?

Well i cant help you with whats up. But the work around is put the item with the finished price in your browser window and hit "Print screen" save it as a jpg and you will always have a pic of it.

If thats what you were doing of course. If not forget I mentioned it.

A while back, ebay switched their servers so that not all the auction page information is available when saving as a full set of files. What I do, and I save a ton of ebay auctions for research purposes, is to create a folder for the auction, name it, and then save it as .html webpage only, not complete. In XP, you have to choose that format from the dropdown menu when you choose Save As.

If there are nice photos, save those separately.

The complete Save As isn't necessarily worth it because of all the extra bits you save that make up the page so the .html page only is faster and smaller.

Regards,

Bart

Ah, thanks Bart. I knew I'd done this before, and easily. Heck, I still have saved pages from ebay that are 2 years old.

FWIW - It's not free but it is not expensive (less than 40 bucks), and that being SnagIt. Been using it since the first day it came out many years ago. It makes screen captures/recordings so damn easy and quick. Not to mention its editting capabilities.
