"Say Hello! to my new little friend"

yank that chinese 6n3 out and drop in a 5670. i did his on one of my chinese SE amps and did notice a difference. the chinese tube seemed harsh. maybe it was because it was not broken in yet. when you look at the construction of those chinese tubes under a magnifying lens, they are scary though.

that seems like a very cool kit that might even lend itself to adaptation in console amp chassis given the space so you can make an integrated.

This might help.

Yes it does, thanks. I see the fuse and pilot light connections bit what is that round black thing in the upper left corner in the second picture? It has power cord and transformer wires running into it.

That would be the rocker switch to turn it on and off. Careful though, the switch is made in China too. :nono:

Yep. Hey, I posted several days ago about this sounding like crap. Well, I don't believe in burn in except with tubes and this sucker is sounding sweet now. I didn't even add the new caps yet. Before if I went past 12 O'Clock is sounding like ****. Now I can take it almost all the way and it sounds great.

Right now I have my Emotiva ERC-1 CD player running into to it then split with Y adapters to a Magnavox 9300 and 8803 bi amped to Klipsch RF-82's. Can't wait to try my cans with it. Less is more!

Just received the Guanzo 2.0 Pre Amp hooked it up for a basic quick test and I have been listening to it for the past hour. Simply amazing just enough bass and sweet detailed sound and it isn't broken in completely yet... Glad I ordered this from Satistronix via Ebay came in rapidly to Canada... No instructions in the kit but this posts helped me put it together in no time... Many THX to you all! Currently testing the Guanzo with a Tripath amp and utilizing various digital formats including FLAC. All sounds sweet... I am hearing new stuff in every song so far... or my hearing is getting better

Now got to find some time to design a proper box for it! Any suggestions in regards to making a box for this great little pre-amp?

:thmbsp:

Just placed an order to use this with my Dayton Chip amp. HOPEFULLY this will bring the chip amp into a likeable state. As of right now I only keep the Dayton because the wife likes the simple controls and it keeps her off my tubes. :)

I have been having good results using the Guanzo 2.0 Pre Amp with my
solid state amps and also hearing stuff in songs that I never noticed before,
so it's not that your hearing is getting better it's the detail in the music that
the Guanzo delivers to our ears.
I agree about the bass it's just right where I like it.:thmbsp:

I have it rolling with 5670 WE tubes and it sounds more clear and sonic rightaway compare to the stock has been burn in 20 hrs. All the comeponents still stock.

Still waiting on my tubes. I added Jentzen audio caps and it's sonic bliss now compared to the original caps. Much cleaner and open. Sounds like a high dollar full size pre amp. Much like the Music Angle I had recently. I still can't take it much past 12 O'Clock though. But I have no need to.

The board isn't cheap but the holes are smaller than normal and the way they soldered it made it a pain to get the old caps out. Patience is key if you plan on doing this.

Is it addtion caps or replacement? Could you share your mode?

Here's a couple updated pics. I could have got the Audiophilers on there but the top board would have been tight so I just bought a whole new set. I can use the others for something down the road. I also got rid of the wooden box because it was too bulky for me and set bolted it onto an aluminum chassis. I was going to put it inside but that would have required a little more work than I wanted to do replacing the RCA's so they would be easy to get to. The blue on the front is the new plastic, I just haven't took it off yet. Much easier to work with now. And since I use a power filter/conditioner I use it for the main on/off so I didn't add a switch this time.

Got the NOS tubes in there. These things are almost half the size of the originals. These GE black plates really smoothed things out quite a bit. Sounds way better. Don't think I've ever heard such a positive difference just by changing tubes. My Meng amp sounded better with the original tubes than it did with matched EL's and JJ's, but it was a minor difference.

This is going to be a headphone preamp for my Grado's when the Emotiva USP-1 preamp arrives later this week. Still under $100 and it rocks! :guitar:

I thought the GE black plates were a lot smoother too so I bought six
more sets, that ebay seller has nice stash of those NOS GE black plates
and they will eventually be gone at that great price.

Probably the same seller. Mine shipped a week late so they added a second pair and shipped Priority. Not sure what brand the second set is. There are some dots on the glass and the number but no model name. Could be from the same factory as they look identical. No complaints here. Very smooth and warm. Could listen to this sound for days without fatigue.

Was it "allmannerofthings831"?
