Recycle belly button lint!
Saw an Electrohome Capistrano SE EL84 console at the auction place yesterday so I went back today for the actual auction. Before the Capistrano came up a Beltone guitar amp came up and I won it for $7.50. Paid $10 for the Electrohome.

Get them home and try them out and they both work, lol. Will need a recap to run them for any length of time of course.

The Electrohome needs some deoxit, still it does sound fairly nice. It has an input for tape as well.

The console has a Garrard Type A record changer. It works but needs to be cleaned, lubed and adjusted.

The little Beltone guitar amp actually doesn't sound bad at all. The speakers are blown me thinks.

The cabinet on the Capistrano is just arborite finish so I will probably just gut it. It does have some nice Jensen 10" speakers in it though and that is the size needed in the Beltone :D

That git amp was a supreme deal. Check around for those. Not cheap or easy.

That must have been a nicer unit, the Type A is a higher end changer. Those side pushers are really cool to watch in action. I have an RC88/4 with a similar mechanism.
 
My goodness I just plugged my DVD into the tape input and wow! This console actually sounds pretty damn good. I told the kid that I might joke with the wife when she gets back from Chicago and tell her I'd decided to put the console on the deck for an outdoor system. Mmmmmm, might not be a joke anymore, lol :D

I have the manual for this unit and it has great specs.:yes:

How the heck can these speakers sound so good? Pic included.:D

I'm beginning to wonder what this Electrohome amp would sound like through decent speakers, maybe my Altecs even. It has some serious bass and that's with the old caps.:yes:

According to the manual the amp is 10 watts RMS per channel, 20cps. to 50,000 cps. +/- 2 db.

I was thinking that the specs sounded overly optimistic to me but now I'm not so sure.:scratch2:

I'm not familiar with Beltone amps, but that looks like it's got tremendous potential. It looks to be very well made.

Yup, it's all point to point which will make working on it a snap.:D

Interesting tube compliment as well. 5Y3 rectifier, 4 - 6AV6s, 2 - EL84s.

With some decent 10"ers in there it might sound excellent. Not much room though. Mmmmm might have to check out AES.:yes:

For speakers I'd recommend Weber VST. I'm partial to the Jensen sound. The company makes speakers that sound like vintage Jensens as well as other voicings including combinations of Celestion/Jensen sounds and some other interesting ideas.

To fit they would need to have small magnets unfortunately.

I'm thinking that a pair of Jensen MOD 10-35s or 10-50s might fit the bill.

The amp probably puts out 15-20 watts max so the 35s would be a good match wattage wise.

Would love to try a pair of the Webers with my other guitar rig though. Peavey 50/50 and Hafler T3 tube pre.:yes:

Just saw your post on Electrohome Yahoo Group.

Like I said, I've got one last year but without the furniture. Sounds good through my Marsland speakers once recapped.

Would you mind to share the manual?

BTW, mine (Capistrano) has the FM multiplex adapter inside. Tuner isn't too bad even if in the cottage's basement.

The Capistrano is part of the basement's sound entertainment system with two sets of speakers hooked to it. The tape out goes to a little Fleetwood 6AQ5 console that delivers its goodness through custom built open baffles fitted with several drivers.

Mine's a Capistrano A, doesn't have the multiplex.

Went back to the auction Tuesday night and picked up a second tube guitar amp.

This one is made by Symphonic and is a SE 6V6 design. Made in Montreal apparently:

Haven't fired it up yet but it looks to be OK.

Should have an interesting sound.
