Scott 299B Tube Rolling

Hey all!

Happy New Year!

Using my Scott with recapped KLH 5s, this pairing makes me quite happy!

But now, I think it’s time to roll!

I replaced my JJ output tubes with 6P14P-ER Gold Grids and they sound great! (I’m definitely going to buy another set as a back up)

Next up:

6u8: I haven’t seen too much out there about great replacements, on AKer recommended Tung-Sol Black Plates, but it’s been tough for me to find these anywhere.

12ax7: I have heard great things about the Genalex Golf Lions, worth it? Or are there other crowd favorites?

Lastly, what are you using tube wise, and for your speakers?

thanks in advance!

Here’s my Christmas snapshot (the records in frame are non usable, they were in a trash pile, I tried my best to clean them but no dice, no records were hurt during the process)

I’ll chime in regarding the Gold Loins. Excellent, excellent tubes! So far the best of the new release 12ax7s that I’ve had in my LK-72. I’m currently running RCA black long plates from the early 50s, and they too are fabulous.

The Scott has been pretty much exclusively hooked up to my KLH Six’s.

Cheers, Glenn

Thanks so much Glenn!

I really wanted to get the gold lions, but needed to penny pinch.

Just popped in some new production Mullard 12A7Xs.

These are incredible with my Scott. I’ve been listening to PS Audio’s playlist for over an hour now. WOW. Smooth. Detailed. Airy. Deep soundstage. Mid forward. Excellent vocals.
