scratchy static in right channel on speaker?...

Unhappy Static in my right channel speaker
I get weird scratchy static just for a few seconds when I pull out my 8 track tape on my right channel speaker. Is it my receiver, speaker or tape deck?....

Unplug that speaker and trade it with the one on the left. If the problem changes sides, then it is your speaker. After eliminating your speaker as the source of the noise, then trade the left interconnect from your tape deck with the right one. After you've eliminated your tape deck, clean the controls on your receiver. Actually, it may not be your receiver, but that is my guess.
