seperate phono stage with Marantz 1200 B ??

I recently acquired a Marantz 1200b from the early seventies. Anyone use a seperate phono stage with this amp ? I find very little difference in sound quality.

A lot of the phono stages used in 70's Marantz gear is pretty good. I Iike the phono stages in my 33 preamp and 1060 integrated.

I should add that I know the onboard amp will be good and that an inexpensive phono stage will not do justice..... I am using a rega fono with my rega TT
