SG-9500 recap, but a headscratcher, at least for this rookie

Glad everything's fine. I regret letting my 9500 go. A solid unit that is total eye candy and doesn't have the problematic switches of the 9800.

Don't sweat it, just glad to see it's working.
Thanks, Glen. I appreciate that. I'm really glad (and relieved, too!)

Me too!
I got a little knowledge from it as well.
That's never a waste of time!
Thanks, zeb. I know you're a busy guy, furthermore, I agree, any gain in knowledge is a good thing. I just really didn't want to end up being "that guy". (You know, the one where everyone looks at a situation and says, "The problem isn't the thing, it's that guy.)

Although I didn't have a part in this thread, I'd like to mention that admission of a facepalm in this arena garners my respect.

Problem solved, no blood, no foul (LOL).
Nice of you to say, Ding. Respect back at ya. The only foul was the language I directed at myself! ;)

I had a little scare, last month, after recapping one of these. I did not remember that these have muting circuits, and was disturbed that it did not wake right up and start singing. I had already replaced the power indicator with an LED, so I did not have the additional, misleading symptom. I was provoked to probe around a bit, myself. That novel muting circuit had me going for a few minutes, since the schematic shows the post-wake-up voltage state. Seeing a negative voltage there was disconcerting, to say the least. I reverse-engineered the circuit and determined that it was working fine.

So, Jeff, don't sweat it. Any day that you can learn something cool, is a good day.

Enjoy,
Rich P
Thanks, Rich, I did learn a little. But I am just barely scratching the surface; as they say, "enough to be dangerous"! I am constantly blown away by the knowledge of the AK collective. How you guys solve stuff. Really incredible.

Glad everything's fine. I regret letting my 9500 go. A solid unit that is total eye candy and doesn't have the problematic switches of the 9800.
Thanks, gb. I am really looking forward to moving forward on this and getting it back in the line up!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Jeff
