Hey all, New Here, New to working on receivers.
I have a Sherwood R-945 that will not produce sound expect for a tiny bit at Full volume.
It has done this intermittently but now its really broken. In the past i was able to turn it on/off/unplug/replug and get it to start working.
Now it turns on, looks normal/works normal, except it acts like it has no amplification. I have my phone connected through an Aux-rca cable and can only get sound at FULL volume - Even then it is a minuscule amount of sound.
It seems as if the startup muting isn't turning off after its powered on. (I'm referencing how the receiver bring the audio level down on startup so you don't blow stuff up) (I think thats how it works)
Any ideas? or advice? I consider myself above avg on electrical understanding but when I open this thing up there is a lot going on inside.
I appreciate any help!
A few answers to the maybe obvious questions:
Yes, I have checked the speaker on/off switch
Yes, I have tried other inputs.
Yes, The volume on my phone is turned up.
Yes, I have disconnected all speakers and connected them one by one.
Yes, I have tried different cables and different devices.
