Sherwood S-5500 Schematic

offhand I don't remember which way the diodes go, depends on exactly how the supply is wired up. Per the service manual, the anode side goes to the first cap and the center tap on that winding is grounded. I've seen others where the diodes face the other way but the diodes are grounded and the center tap of the supply connects to the bias supply instead of ground.

If yours uses a grounded center tap, the diodes are backwards. It needs to have negative voltage at the first cap. Would be worth removing the 7868 output tubes and confirming that when you rebuild it. Without negative grid supply those tubes will get very unhappy in a hurry.

When I review the schematic I finally found, it would appear that I have the diodes installed with the + to the transformer and the - going to the 22 ohm resistor . the 2 300mf cap positive leads are on either side of the 22 ohm resistor and the negative to ground. Which would be wrong from the picture of what I did.
