Should I get these speakers and repair them?

These speakers need new foam surrounds for the woofers, but I have no idea how these sound like since they have a very little online presence. I have all the tools to repair speakers and am not willing to buy new speakers if they cost more than $40. I know how to solder and have experience with electronics. I may be able to bargain the seller to $15 on the infinity speakers. Any help is appreciated. I also want to learn how to do this, if anything it's good experience.

That seller has Boston A60s and Paradigms for sale. Both better than those Infinities. Too bad the Bostons have the incorrect foam and are priced a bit high.

Those sony's are active, have an amp. What are you going to plug the speakers into?

Keep in mind the cost of repair, Time Free, surrounds can be maybe 20 bucks and that first set of infinities needed a rear cup to be right and you would probably buy 2 to have em match and then you are out that and shipping, another 15 bucks maybe, don't know what PE has those cups available for this week and you need on big enough to fill the hole or mount a chunk of hardboard and put a pair of binding posts on that hardboard. Keeps adding up.

Those Infinity's are not a bad sounding speaker. $30 isn't a bad price, if you can get them for less even better. Getting the old glue off the poly cones is probably the most difficult part of the job.

I re-foamed some Infinity RS 5b's about a year or so ago and ended up having to re-foam one of them... the voice coil was rubbing. I had done several other speaker pairs before the Infinitys and never had to re-do one. I think the Infinitys are just a little tighter to re-foam than some other brands. But if you get them done right, they will pay off in some good sound for you to enjoy.
