Show me your HORNS!!!

I want to know what house de kris's orange ones are... looks like it might've been a mean folded-horn bass guitar rig at some point.

Those are some scaled-down models of the woofer section from some Klipsch LaScala speakers. Originals are for 15" drivers, my are scaled-down to house 10" drivers. I had eight of them built by a local cabinet/speaker maker.

I really wanted to have nine per side, but cost was getting to be a bit much with just eight total.

Altec VOTT A5, 288C drivers, 805B horns, 515B woofers

Very nice horns everyone! :thmbsp:

OH man Kris.. What do you use those for? PA, or in you home? Those are beautiful..

Thanks for the kind words. The systems I shared in this thread are my outdoor/PA systems. Primarily, these are built up for use at Burning Man. The stack with the orange woofers faces out to the street so passer-bys can hear our cool tunes, and the taller stacks are the main system inside our camp. I'm not a fan of overbearingly loud PA systems, rather, I approach these as sonically pleasing large stereos for outdoor use.

wow.. I couldn't imagine subjecting those to the dirt from the Playa.. I bet they do sound fantastic...

I've been wanting to make burning man for years, just haven't had the opportunity..

My motto has always been, "don't take gear you love to the desert." But, how do I NOT love audio gear? As pictured, the orange speakers hadn't made it to the desert yet. From my first picture on page 1, you can see which speakers have been to the playa, and which hadn't. By now, the orange woofers have been playa-dusted two times.

Horn Envy

Dang, eveyone's horn is bigger than mine. :tears:
