MC-1000. I restored them completely. Sold in between. Very solid, very good overall quality.
The sound is a bit unbalanced. Deep and dry bass, less Mids, Highs too sharp.

Many thanks for that info.
I read somewhere that it came out in 1979.It's a very good SW radio receiver,personally I found it to be just as good as the Sony ICF-6800W and National Panasonic DR-49.

Had the DX-160 (chicks :thmbsp
with home-brew digital frequency display, 7 segment orange LED's, gated TTL counters tapped into LO, reset at IF for subtraction. Also active filter cookbook stuff in audio. But I digress. Also had DX-150 earlier. But I still digress. Here's what you came to see:

I have also some small Realistic's. A TM-102, SA-102 and Minimus 0.5.

I love my STA-204...swapped a DX-200 for it back in 1987...still doing duty in the ham shack hooked up to a pair of Minimus 2.5 bookshelf speakers.

Gosh I lusted after these back when they were sold. I was a broke kid so no way could I even begin to afford them. By the time I had enough money, they were long gone as a line, so bought Optimus 10's instead. An older friend had a set and I always thought they were outstanding bookshelf speakers. You are lucky, IMO, to have a set. Enjoy.
Funny how in the late 70's I couldn't wait to get "Real Gear" and considered Realistic absolute bottom of the rung. I wish I had bought more if it.

My only piece from the Shack. The service manual cover says "custom manufactured for Radio Shack Division." I have always wondered who manufactured it.
I've been considering it as a candidate fir some 'upgrades.' But don't want to ruin the 'originality.'

Realistic System 1000?
I found this at the dump. Amp, equalizer, tape, cd, tuner. It seems to be some very inexpensive stuff, except that the amp has some heft and purportedly puts out 100 watts minimum RMS at .09% distortion into 8 ohms.
No sound out of the amp at first. Then I connected the equalizer and sound was fine. All functions seem to work except the tuner.
The tuner, equalizer, and tape deck connect to the amp via ribbon type connectors.
Anyone seen this before? Couldn't find it in any of the Radio Shack catalogs and I looked through most from late '70s until they started labeling there stuff Optimus in the 90s.
Specs were found on-line by searching on Radio Shack catalog 31-1130.

Had a friend that bought a rack system a while back that hooked up like that. Nothing worked on its own. I think the only power supply was in the amplifier module. Basically it was an all-in-one system that was separated into different modules to make it look like you had separate components.

I have an STA-21 that I'm finishing up. The guy before me had already replaced the caps, the tuner string, power cord and a few other things. All I really need to do is clean and lube the pots, replace the fuse lamps and do some brightening. Nifty little weekend project. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have everything finished up so I can post a good pic.

The CD player on top looks like my first ever CD player. Mine is a CD-2400, bought in 1988 I think. Not using it a lot anymore but STILL works great. I've changed the door opening belt once, that's all.

The problem was that it was priced much higher than very similar equipment being offered by the well-known mfgrs.
It wasn't an easy sell by any means.
If you knew to buy it then, you probably also would have known to buy Apple and Berkshire Hathaway ...
