Nice! I could have had stacks of the Realistic silver receivers back in the day. If only I wasn't a dumb kid who thought they had no value since digital radio tuning was coming into play...

I bought mine new on a 1/2 sale in late 1981 because I knew it was good ! Never dreamed it still be going strong 44 yrs later ! All original

This one I originally bought as a none working guinea pig to take apart and clean it to learn how to take it apart then it started working except for the tuner and a few burnt lights so I had Dr audio go thru it now it’s also a daily driver

Most of my RS stuff is GRE made scanners, old and fairly new. I have a bunch of the metal Minimus speakers, and almost pulled the trigger recently on a really nice STA-2080, one of those "I wish I had bought one" back in 1980 or whenever it was made. Here is my Realistic PRO-2004 scanner being listened to by my gone 25 plus years now dog, Gus days before we put him down due to "everywhere" cancer at 14+. He really was listening to it, he rarely laid on my bed in his later years unless the scanner was on and could be heard at least mumbling in the background.

I had one of those saved it from the trash cleaned it new bulbs it was the little unit with big sound ! Had a buddy who’s sta2500 died and bough it off me ti use till his was repaired . He hooked it up to some marrantz imperial speakers it sounded so good I don’t think he ever bothered with getting his other unit repaired !

I think the little STA-18 gets overlooked. I bought a nice clean example about a week ago on a whim not knowing for sure just how it would sound. All I can say is it went well above my expectations. It really sounds great, well built low watt receiver. I'm glad to have one in my stash now......

Even that little RS receiver I gave you sounds good. I don't remember the model though.

Until the mid 80s even the cheapest Realistic receivers had walnut veneer cabinets that looked incredible. Very few of the big names had that nice of cabinets.
