Show Us Your Sonys!!!

I shall register Axel, as soon as I can dig out serials no's etc. I forgot to mention I also picked up a JH turntable (Aussie brand) with an SME 3009 S2 from him for $40.00(Ha Ha), sold the arm and the Technics tape deck for $300.00 leaving me with some really cool gear and $200.00 in my pocket for some more finds!!

Guess you've got to rework the rack to fit that one in.
That's for sure. Right now I have no idea where I'm going to put it, still trying to figure that out. Once it gets here (today hopefully) I'll start moving things around and try to squeeze it in.

Zedhead - I too am officially green with envy. Still looking for an 8750 myself and I doubt I'm going to find anybody to pay me to take one off of their hands. Fantastic score, congratulations.

Looking for Sony brochures? You might take a look. I just purchased the 6800sd. It arrived last week and looked brand new, not a mark/wrinke on it. Had been stored in a protective sleeve. No affiliation with the seller, just a satisfied customer.

thanks for the lead!
Don't anybody bid on them brochures - these are mine :D

(and you'll see them on TVK, of course!)

Craig, Everything else than a religious experience can not be accepted, when you only payed AU$100 for them ! :)

I also had some religious experiences with my PS-8750 and Wega Lab Zero Pre (Wega rebadge of a TA-E88) but my experiences were a little bit more expensive ... :)

Great thread. :thmbsp:
I just picked up my first pieces of Sony stuff yesterday.
40w TA-F4A amp, ST-A3A tuna, and a TC-K15 deck. I don't know much about this stuff. Anybody help with info?
I'll take some pics tonight and post 'em tomorrow.

1977/78 middle of the road units but pretty beefy!
The amp and tuner saw black-face versions of themwselves under the Wega brand in Europe.

I've got a pair of sony apm 910 speakers running off my sansui au9500,they sound fantastic :music: after i set up my sony's i packed up my paradigms and have never looked at them since. I also found this reciever sony sta-7055a that i have not found much info on other than it was made in the late 70's....i think.... any help?

Also have an STR-7055A and think that it is a great little receiver. Only info I've found in on the older, '73-75 STR-7055, which retailed for $500 and made 35wpc. These are not as nicely isolated as their earlier models (STR-6xxx), but they have more ICs, so likely don't need the same level of shielding. Very nicely built and nice looking, as well as a great sound.

You may find more info on Axel's The Vintage Knob website.

Those have popped up in a few threads lately. I think they are some of the coolest looking speakers, and would love to hear a pair! Glad to hear they work well with the AU9500, as it's one of my favorite amps. (Not that you could tell that by anything.) My only concern would be bass output. Is it adequate (quality + quantity) ?

the bass output from my sony's is just fine :D they love my sansui . the bass has a nice warmth to it,not muddy or overbearing, great impact without sounding stressed.with the mids things start to get a little bright if you turn the mid dial up to much.highs are sweet aslong as you keep them set just over the mids.My tone controls are set as followed bass@150hz +6db mids@750hz+2db tweeters@6khz+6db.I've like the sound of these sony's so much that id like to sell my paradigm's and there only 8months old.BTW the total cost of my stereo....$20 amp....$47 speakers...$50 dvd player all used and works quite well thankyou! the paradigms cost me over $1500 open to offers

yamaha b-2 thanks for the info on the sony amp! may go take a closer look at it one day.I've been to axels site, what a history lesson on sony!glad that there are people who take the time to collect all this info and are willing to share.do you remember where the 7055a was in the line up...near the bottom or near the top? also what would be a far price for it? thanks for any info

The STR-7055A was one down from the TOTL STR-7065, at the time. For some reason, it sticks in my mind the the STR-7055A makes 45wpc and the -7065 makes 60, but can't back that up. They generally sell on eBay for $30-75, depending on who is buying, condition, etc. An absolute steal. Early Sony's definitely don't get no respect. And, they are great pieces.

great info thanks! guess i should take a closer look at this piece.I liked the look of it right away but didn't want to drag another amp home until i got some info on it.

Does anyone have a service manual for either of these bad boys:

STR-7800 sd

TA-2650

They are in great working condition but require bias/dc offset adjustment.
At least I hope that's all that's wrong with them.
The 7800's power switch is a little wonky, are these hard to come by ?, should I sacrifice the power switch from the 2650 ?

Questions ???
I got questions.
It's answers I'm short on :scratch2:
