Works for me !
Show your turntable damaged during shipping.

i keep reading stories of turntables that have been damaged during shipping. Some are reparable and some are damaged beyond repair. Display yours here and let us see the damage along with your story. :scratch2:

This is going to be a heartbreaking thread :tears:

I've parted out all of the damaged tables I've received over the years. Some people have no clue about packing and shipping a turntable!

"Show your damaged turntable during shipping." How could you show it during shipping? Syntax is important!

I'd show mine, but I deleted the pics after I got finished dealing with the seller and ebay. I didn't really need another reminder of how pissed I was, and how stupid/lazy some sellers can be about shipping.

No pictures, but I bought a Planar 2 once and the guy put it on a box with it all set up!

The glass platter snapped the subplatter, counterweight came off and smashed the lid, scratched the plinth and ripped the headshell finger piece from the headshell.

Kenwood KD-750. Shipped without taking off the platter, even after I sent instuctions on how to package the turntable. Luckily I was able to find another one that was mint locally.

Just like atom666 I sent instructions on how to pack that were ignored.

Holy Toledo man... Some of these are just awful! How do you respond to something like that?

SOTA Star Sapphire, SME Series V arm, Sumiko Talisman Virtuoso DTi Cartridge.

The seller had all the boxes for the componets and I asked him to take it all apart and ship in the boxes. I recieved a box with the power supply and empty boxes for the cart and arm.

To answer fozzy28's question, in my case I was fully refunded and the turntable was then sold (by the seller, not me) to someone who repaired it and brought it back into service.

I should say I got a huge reduction in the price, the cart was toast as was the dust cover. The table had a few cosmetic sratches and the arm was fine.

This thread sucks. I won't buy a turntable off ebay. Even before this thread. I have however bought numerous things that were badly packed and broken in shipping.

In my case I contacted the seller and asked if they wanted me to shovel the remains into a box and send it back. They declined and provided a full refund. So now I have some spares should one of the parts fail. I should also mention that the seller ignored my packing instructions and sent the turntable to be packed by the experts at a UPS store.
