Show your JBLs off

Impressive system, STP. Are your electronics sitting on speakers or what?

Thanks! Good catch on the speakers. These are actually an empty pair of JBL L-112 cabs that I thought I could put to good use. It actually looks pretty good (at least to me!).

Final pic of L-300's

Just to give you an idea of the siz of these things. I'm 6'1" and that's me on the right...

The second pic is my bud Steve Gonzales (JBL Freak extraordinaire) who helped me with the diaphragm replacement. Note the size of the LE-85's and horns...

STP I love the way those have the built in slant upward.

They are nice that way and thanks all for your generous responses, they do the JBL's proud (they're only owned by me, the legacy belongs to JBL). This year is JBL's 60th anniversary! While they've put out some hit and miss in the 80's and 90's, they've always had a selection for the higher end that wasn't always visible to the consumer.

The L-300's are the exact same speaker as the legendary JBL 4333 Professional Studio Monitor, used by many recording studios in the 1970's and beyond. Only the cabinet is different, being dressed for home use instead of the studio. The L-300's were JBL's flagship home speaker of the late 70's and went for $3,000 a pair (which is equivalent to almost $9K today). If any of you ever have a chance to pick these up for less than $2k, jump on it as you'll never desire another speaker again (unless it's the very large format JBL monitors like the 4343, 4344, etc...)

Nice! A grill on the bottom half would make those look just fine. Often, though, I'll pull the grills off've mine, just so I can look at them, while I'm listening. I've always wanted to hear a 4430 or 4435

I hang out at Lansing Heritage quite a bit, and Steve Gonzalez is one heck of a great guy - what we refer to as real people in my neck of the woods. Nice to see what he looks like.

BTW - my new Avatar is a cross section of an L300.

That is a sweet looking setup. Any system with stereo lava lamps gets has got to rock. :thmbsp:

I have a pair of large CF150, 15-inch, 3-way speaker systems from the mid- to late-90s. Better sounding than simply rock pounders--they sound very delicate yet dynamic with classical music, too.
The other pair of JBL's are the L100 Century. No grills, drat.

JBL 120 Ti speakers

I have a pair of JBL 120 Ti speakers shown without the grills. (Truth be told, I only have one of the grills.) The other speakers are a pair of Speakerlab 190s's (should I have the 's or just an "s" to show the plural?)

l300's are nice indeed . :thmbsp: i have a friend that has a pr that he drives with a mcintosh ma2275 and the sound is just out of this world.

Performance Series, but using the JBL sub1500 driver (pictured) in the sub units, not the factory driver. These are titanium dome drivers in the PT800 tops and the center.

Just a few pictures of my JBL's. I've yet to see anything like them. Probably one of a kind. They are not yet completed, but I felt they were worthy of posting. They house the same componets as the L300's, so they sound OK, to say the least. Brad
