Shure M91ED or M95ED or Sure M75ED Type 2 Cartridge, Whats better?

Or maybe I been played and it's a knock off. Well it was 20 bucks...

Wonder if it needs a break in period to deliver too its full potential?

Can you post a picture of the hole in the back of the brass sleeve? That will tell us if its Jico or just a knockoff. Jico has the tension wire soldered in the back.

Just curious. Is Jico the only manufacturer with the tie wire?

According to Needlestein, some Normarh(South American manufacturer) styli had tie wires. Nagaoka makes a FEW aftermarket models, and they may have tie wires. Current JICO sourced but sold under other brand names do not appear to have tie wires. Older Electro-Voice sourced from JICO such as the PM3139DE's do have tie wires. Wish I could give a more definitive answer.

Iirc, Joe Grado did a fair amount of experimentation with coating cantilever tubes in various ways with various substances. Otherwise, the proprietary markings on the tubes id the part to the mfgr, afaik.

The M91ED was a great cartridge that mated up extremely well with the better made direct drive tables of the 1970s. I heard the Sony PS-X7 with the M91ED through a Sony STR-7800SD a whole lot back in the 79-86 era and it was to this day some of the best analog sounds I've ever heard. Blew CDs away before there was such things.

I have one with an EVG elliptical in a Pioneer PL-L1000 as my beater/casual/preview setup. I'm pretty much fixed for life with carts.

Here´s a shot of the (from seller alledged) Jico elliptical i ordered for my Shure m75. I see no soldered tension wire. So maybe no Jico? But I read that not all Jicos have the wire...

Anyway: It sounds good an noticeably better than the Tonar/DMS combo I ran before (the Tonar stylus for the DMS cartridge was more expensive than the "Jico" replacement for the Shure

Did it come in a package with a brand name on it ?

That does look like my MO. And if so it would be a Tonar/Jico.....I am happy it sounds good! :)

And yes not all the outsourced ones have the tie-wire. The black dot is a good give-away too
