Sir.Byrd's 2226H based super speaker project

Yeah- Yeah- Yeah!!! to this project!. Did you simulate bass response of
the 2226 in that ported enclosure?, what would be your F-3 ?.
Secondly, these blue grills on your Speakerlabs, where's the cloth from?
it's cool looking! (JBL blue?)...
Good luck with your project!:thmbsp:.

GordonW simulated it for me, the box is tuned to about 41Hz and the F3 is 45Hz
Not expecting a lot of low bass from these, but maybe I'll find a 2225 or two and recone to 2235 for a sub.

I just got back from the lake and I'm glad to see that the 2226H's arrived as scheduled, safe and sound

Man, that was cutting it close :D

Now you're talking! Build, effectively, a pair of B380s to go with 'em!

Regards,
Gordon.

Dead 2225 frame + aftermarket recone kit = 2235 at half the cost of the 2226, probably...

EDIT: Though, there is one "franken-woofer" I've wanted to build. Use a 2226 frame, the voice coil for a 2241, a 2235 cone and spider, and the 2226 dustcap and gaskets. Wonder how a vented gap version of the 2235 would sound??

All it would take, is someone with some dead 2226s, to find out... :D

Regards,
Gordon.

Half the cost of 2226H would be roughly $350 plus shipping... chump change!
:smoke:

miss quoted?

Not just yeah, but HELL YEAH, to this project. :thmbsp:

Regards,
Gordon.

Hey Gordon
U sure you didn't mean Heil Yeah! :D:D:D

Maybe a pair or trio of AMT's for each enclosure?????

sorry -- could nt help but dream. best of luck :thmbsp:

Hey Will since you are making your baffle of multiple layers only the outer layer needs to be the proper cutout size for your waveguide. You can actually get the hole size down quite a bit ameliorating some flexing and if taken to an extreme the wavequide can fit into a angled baffle hole with a sound deadening material like dum dum filling in the gap. Kind of a long sentence. Hopefully you get the idea.

Dum dum is 3m strip caulk btw.

I see what you mean, I'll work on that with the designer.
Also, the MDF layer of the baffle will have a smaller hole to flush mount the 2226H.

Nice, I like the appearance

Sealed?? If BR, whats the porting plan (location)?

RC

I need to work on the design a little with the port placement. The problem is that they are so large in diameter that they will only fit on the back.
They will be likely in the bottom corners at least 4" (tube diameter) from the bottom and side walls.

If your working in WIN Isd (for example) for box and porting calcs, depending on your power requirements you could always lower the Pe in the driver parameters and re-calculate. With the 2226H being 600w, dropping that to even 100-200w might make a significant difference in port size and length.

Front or back, It might buy you some "operating" room where you most need it

Man, here's another cool DIY speaker thread to watch! :thmbsp:

I'm in for the duration. :D

Sir Byrd- you're going to love the 2226H/ DE250 combo. Have 7 Pi with 2226H and have am waiting on one more 2226 from the US to finish a pair of 4 Pi with E/W's Selenium 220 Driver on the high end.
