Six foot speakers in NY

Here is a weird find - a pair of 6-foot speakers in downstate NY. Not sure if they're public address type, but the drivers look interesting and the tweeters seem to be Seas. Note that it's actually 4 speakers in 2 cabinets.

I'm not interested in these, but I'd like to know what make/model they are.

It looks like the duntech speakers knock off. So my guess is: white van.

The opaque poly cones are very reminiscent of early 90's white van speakers, the ones that usually were marked some combination of liquid cooled, professional, studio, or monitors. Maybe someone got duped into buying 2 pair and decided to stack them and go for quantity over quality.
 
I agree that I've never seen white vans that big. My vote is that it's some niche company. In Dallas, we had Toby and NAS, and both companies would've made something that looked like these do. There must've been some small company in the north east that was doing this. They could also be DIY, but it's hard to tell from the two pictures.
 
I just clicked the link and saw more pics. The drivers don't look to be of high quality... but, Toby did some amazing things with cheap auto 6x9's in his early designs. And, Frazier successfully used those terrible piezo tweeters. I wouldn't pass up a listen just yet.
 
Take four Acoustic liquid cooled white vans, turn two upside down and stack 'em. Looks like four of the same speakers to me.
 
The picture of the back leads me to believe they probably should be part of the firewood pile rather than just in front of it.
 
Strange pair of speakers. I've never seen anything like them. Combined with the drivers, makes them seem like a DIY effort, but the finish/veneer suggest otherwise (or a lot of effort). For the asking price, I would pay the price of admission to check them out if they were closer.

The four Cerwin Vega/Foster type horn tweeters are worth the entry fee and likely exceed the quality of WV dreck.

That said, the brain that conceived these children knew very little about empirical loudspeaker design. It's unlikely they would displace many speakers coming from proven design and pedigree.

Buy them for the tweeters, any surprises are likely to be good ones.
 
Would I pay $5 each for the drivers if I found them at a yard sale? Quite likely and half of them could easily be sold to cover the whole purchase.

However, at $2.50 per driver it falls into the possibly irresponsible to pass up category.

There is a lot of good stuff there.
 
Two sets of terminals per speaker = Two separate speakers? I'm thinking they are stacked DIYs

There was a company out of CT that made speakers that kind of looked like that if i remember correctly, I had a pair a while ago, the cabinets were really cheesy but the components were ok

Absolutely correct. We are debating over a $40.00 set of speakers? not sure what the deals are down in the lower 48 states but here $40.00 speakers are likely Panasonic Thrusters. I vote 2 huge cabinets versus 4 stacked ones there are no seams to be seen from the side or back and only the bottoms have the base on them. Home made maybe but I doubt it, way too much work to get them to look that good and few people have the skill.

Looks like Polydax or Audax tweeters, they don't look at all like white vans and they are not stacked, no seams along the sides just seperate speaker covers.
 
Those look like fairly high quality cabinets - most likely 3/4" MDF with real oak veneer - and the drivers are definitely worth $40. For a DIY speaker guy without his own wood shop these are a score. With a jig saw a soldering iron and a Parts Express catalog you could have a merry old time with those bad boys! Someone should snag them ASAP IMO.
