I am using the AT92ECD, which is inexpensive and sounds awesome!

IMHO these technics T4P tables are way underrated. i found a SL-Q350 at a thrift for $15 withan AT series VIII and it sound absolutely great. in my experience, these tables respond well to a modest record weight, a touch of tonearm damping, and definitely to upgraded interconnects. oh, and plugging them into a power conditioner makes a difference too.

kunalice, i put one of two Shure RXT5 cartridges i have on my SL-Q350 and it sounds very nice. i'd sell the second one to you for say $50 if you're interested.

I checked the amazon, they have the AT92ECD for sale, is it the same model as AT92EC? In your opinions, how much improvement would you anticipate by upgrading from AT1001 to AT92EC/ECD?

There is no AT-92EC; it's only AT-92ECD. That's what he meant. Check on ebay. Dealers are selling it for $24 shipped. On Amazon you'll have to pay shipping unless you buy something else for 63 cents to get it over $25. The AT-1001 is a conical stylus. The 92ECD is a .3 x .7 elliptical, so it's two steps up. Definitely worth it. You'll be happy.

I picked up one of these at a thrift store with an Audio Technica PT600 cartridge for $6.99. No dust cover but it sounds awesome!

The cartridge is an AT-92E. However, when packaged on a card it is sold as an AT-92ECD. The "CD" refers to "card." It must be entered that way on ebay when searching to find it.

Yup, imo the rest of the suffix in this case denotes the packaging: CD -> (blister-)card. Same should go for the AT71ELC offered in the US: If you buy one of these, the cart itself will also just say AT71E - but the box isn't the usual, more luxurious looking AT box, but just a little plastic thingy similar to a (photo) film container. So I'd guess, in this case LC means "low cost" box. Whereas AT over here nowadays offers an AT91BL and an AT95EBL, which probably are nothing else but the usual AT91 and AT95E in some kind of blister pack...
