Drybasement

Hold the ketchup...
Thanks again for hosting Jim. Great time as usual. Your system is very impressive. And that pulled pork was out of this world.

Cheers!

Thanks for hosting Jim, your system never fails to amaze! The tunes today were exceptional.

Agree with above, top notch sounds today, and thanks for being such a gracious
host with how late a few of us were there till, always a pleasure at your shindigs.:thmbsp:

Impressive gear, and just as important, tunes ruled on this day. Outstanding pulled pork too. Thanks for a great meet.

Yes, thanks for hosting Jim. Sorry I wasn't able to be there.

Any opinions from those that were able to listen to Jim's older speakers and then these newer panels - how did they compare? Course, different amps as well this time.....

Were there any music presentations? Any particular music stand out of this gathering?

Jeff

Thanks for hosting Jim. Your 845s sound just increadable. The fishing was good and the pulled pork was hard to stay away from. Great time.

I can not remember what the old panels sounded like compared to these. At that time, Jim was running OTLs so the two main parts of the system are totally different. I can say that the new panels and VTLs are increadable. Super great detail. Nauances that I've never heard before, deep deep bass, huge sound stage, great imaging. You just have to listen to appreciate.

I've heard both, to put it blunt, the old panels were dull and lifeless compared to these.

Alice in Chains unplugged "CD", was frickin incredible, the best of the day, also by far the
best I have ever heard them sound, had to be heard to be appreciated, we did a mini DIO
tribute with a couple tunes then a cheer afterword as well.:beerchug::guitar:

Thanks everyone for all the very favorable comments on the system changes. It was great fun having everyone over again, especially with extended hours and great tunes -- SMAC is the best!

Great time & great tunes Saturday.

Here is a sample of what I remember hearing. I am sure I missed some selections as that pulled pork kept calling me back for more!

Skip James ~ Jim's Collection

Mingus ~ East Coasting ~ Dave MacDonald

Pink Floyd ~ Wish You Were Here ~ Half Speed master ~ Jim's Collection, Group Selection?

Great Lakes Swimmers ~ Lost Channels ~ LP from Rob's collection Darren's selection (I think their upcoming show at the Ark will be well attended by SMACers)

Jimi Hendrix ~ Electric Ladyland ~ Rob brought all rainy day music and the sun came out!

Elvis Costello ~ Don't remember the LP, had a balled guy on the cover

Mazy Star ~ So Tonight That I might See ~ tune was Fade Into You ~ Great LP

Fleetwood Mac ~ Future Games ~ Rob's Collection

Wilco ~ Impossible Germany ~ Olson

Mashall Tucker Band ~ Jim M

Ry Cooder ~ Bop Till Ya Drop ~The Very Thing That Makes You Rich Makes Me Poor ~ Don C

John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman Don C (I am guessing on this one)

Sonny Rollins ~ Saxophone Colossus on Jim's RTR

...the record was "All This Useless Beauty" by Elvis (the king of rock, I might add) from 1996.
