Yup

C'mon DC, I'm bringing about 3 big boxes of classical freebie LPs and I know you'd want to flip through them.

Just so ya'll know, Mrs. Wiggy is putting out her famous BBQ pulled pork, which I know you're going to love. I'm setting up the man cave this weekend, and all should be in readiness.

But I just don't have high-end audio. My stuff is decidedly vintage SS and mid-fi at best. Centered around my old Luxman amps. You want to hear some 'good stuff', then bring it with you - and that is encouraged! Bring whatever you like and we'll set it up.

I have a turntable, but I need some help setting up my cartridge (I could also use a donated cartridge, since mine is pretty much cheap junk). Anyone who wants to assist would be gladly and gratefully welcome to do so!

For anyone who prefers to watch the game upstairs, the DIY home theater set up is upstairs and done.

I've got wireless so if you need wi-fi you can connect to my network.

Looking forward to seeing you!

EDIT: Equipment List

Luxman L-580 Integrated amplifier
Luxman L-450 Integrated amplifier
Pioneer SX-727 Receiver
Harman/Kardon 50+ Receiver
Toshiba XR-J9 CD Player
Technics SH-8055 EQ
JVC QL-A75 Turntable (Audiotechnica stylus)
Electrovoice E-V Nine speakers
The Fisher XP-56 speakers
Klipsh KG-2 speakers
Boston Acoustics A60 / A40 / HD5 speakers
Infinity Outrigger JR speakers
Accurian Radio Shack thing

Plus the basic zip cord wiring, no UPS, no wire hangers, etc. Standard interconnects, nothing fancy.

Hey Wiggy You know I'll be there, and hungry! :)

I'll bring my latest 6V6 push pull amp, about 15wpc, should do well on your KG2's..
(do you have a preamp?)

Hey Wigwam, I have a cart for you. It was given to me by Mike Whell when I was looking for one a few months back. Since I will be getting a new one with my Classic it is time to pass it along to another SMAC member, and is yours if you want it. It is a Audio Technica Signet TK5E which is pretty well regarded by quite a few people and sounds/works great.

My son may have one last baseball practice next Saturday if the weather continues to hold out. If he does, I wont be able to make it until later. Should this practice happen maybe I can drop it off this week with someone who will be there early. That way you can get it set up and have the proper ears there to tweak it.

p.s. I do not have any spare mounting hardware for the cart. But I am sure one of the guys do.

I believe my Luxman has a pre-out. Would that do? I've never used it that way, and the pots are not as clean as I would like, but it works pretty well, considering.

That would be awesome! I hate to ask for donations, but I suspect folks will want to listen to the turntable, and I just haven't got the cart for it. Thank you so much!

Hey Wiggy, I'm going to drag my Keggerized Magnavox 8802 up too to play with also. It will be nice to do a comparo with his 6V6 amp which was born as a project out of the work he did on mine.

But I have to dress it up first this week; she's gotta look pretty for all the guys :D

That will be cool to hear both of them side by side! I am looking forward to this meet!

I was wrong - my Luxman does NOT have preamp outs. However, my Pioneer SX-727 receiver does. Go figure.

So, the question is, do you want to use the cheesy old 70's receiver as a preamp, or would you prefer to bring your own or rustle something up? Very sorry I don't have anything of quality to offer at this time.
