Small Office Speakers

I'm looking for some small inexpensive office speakers. They will be hooked up to a Yamaha RX-397 receiver connected to a computer and a CD player. I'm looking at these Dayton Audio B652-AIR at Parts Express. On sale now for under $50. They look very impressive but I've never heard of Dayton Audio. Any thoughts on these? Any others I should consider? Thanks in advanced.

Budget ? New speakers only here ?? Or are used speakers ok too ???
Would also help us to know what you plan to use to drive these speakers too. ;)

Me,,,I'm a used/vintage kinda guy...

In the spirit of the ^^^^ Min7 recommendation above add >>>> ADS L200/L300 variants & Canton Plus S.
Of all my "small desktop" speakers my current favorites are some Canton GL-260,those never fail to impress me.
And my Delta Labs M1 (ADS L200 variant) and Plus S are quite good too,hence their recommendation here.
Only "catch" with those is most all of 'em (except the Min7's) are 4ohm speakers.
So one needs an amp that can handle lower impedance speakers.

New speakers,now that I'd have to think 'bout a good bit longer to decide what I'd recommend.
Especially if were talking within some strict budget constraints.

In the end I'd probably end up recommending some active speakers like the JBL LSR-305 or such.
IIRC those are currently on sale @ Massdrop for < $200 and by all accounts sound absolutely fantastic.

Dont sweat that,they are very well known in most audio circles,they mostly supply loose drivers and associated parts for the DIY types.
But they do have their own line of speakers/subs/amps and such that generally have a good reputation too.

I'm sure one could easily do a lot worse than a pair of those B652-AIR...
And should you not like 'em I'm sure they're an easy resale to recoup some $.

I have the Airs and they're nice but for about $50 more the Overnight Sensations are better. The OS speakers are smaller than the Airs and with bass so plentiful a sub is not necessary. The only negative with the OS is they're rear ported which means they'll need some open space behind them.
 
I have a pair of the Minimus 7, like the little Koss M80/85 they are great sounding for their size and are a good choice if you want the smallest speaker that sounds good but something the size of the Dayton will sound a lot fuller and less tinny particularly at low volume. The Yamaha's variable loudness contour can help offset that but if you have the room take advantage and get something bigger than the Realistic.

I would recommend looking for something used from Mission (I use the M70 at the office and they are really nice), PSB, Paradigm, or whatever is a good deal in your area but for $49 the Dayton don't seem like a big risk given the positive reviews from buyers.
 
I spent 700 bucks on office speakers......what a waist. They were the Omaga 3Rs and are very fine speakers however I found that in the office I never listened critically, it was just background music. Go for the Daytons for under 50.
 
If like me your office listening must be at low levels, the Daytons will be fine. They're very impressive for the money.
 
It seems the Minimus 7's are a "go to" for a desk top system. I bought a pair of Mission VET8 that to me, sound better, although slightly larger.
 
Thanks for all the replies. I have a nice list here now. The Overnight Sensations seem intriguing, and a fun project. I'm aware of Minimus 7s. I'm always watching for them at garage sales, CL and flea markets. I saw one not long ago at a flea market and asked the lady where the mate was. She said there was only one so I passed. I should of got it, it was $5. My little Yamaha isn't rated for 4 ohms so 8 or 6 is what I need. They will be close to a wall on either side of the Monitor. Rear port may not be ideal. I had some Klipsch RB-61s in the old office put they have been rotated to surround sound duty. Its a new house to us. The office desk was built in by the previous owner and is not very deep. Not much room. Mounting to the wall might be ideal. Near field and low volumes mostly. I don't want cheesy little computer speakers.

I would not worry too much about using 4ohms speakers with this amp, the manual states power and THD ratings for 4 and 2 ohms load. It should be fine with most speakers that fits on a desk or bookshelves
