Small Office Speakers

I would not worry too much about using 4ohms speakers with this amp, the manual states power and THD ratings for 4 and 2 ohms load. It should be fine with most speakers that fits on a desk or bookshelves

From my manual:
- Minimum RMS Output Power: (8 ohm, 20 Hz to 20KHz, 0.04% THD) .......... 50W + 50W
- Dynamic Power (IHF): (8/6/4/2 ohm) .......... 70/77/89/100 W

It only mentions 8 ohms for RMS. I'm not sure how to interpret IHF. Elsewhere in the manual it says "Use speakers with the specified impedance shown on the rear panel of this unit". On the rear panel it says "A or B 4 ohm min., A+B 8 ohm min." So you are correct. Since it only mentions 8 ohm for RMS I assumed.... Good to know. Thanks for setting me straight. You made me read the manual.

Dynamic power stand for short burst or peak power, not sustainable longer than few milliseconds run for the amp.
A+B puts speakers in parrallel over the amps output, thus (approximately) halving their overall impedance.

I almost forgot the Fostex speakers from Madisound. Doubt you could do better at this price point. We've got several happy AK owners who I hope will chime in.

I built a set of the Overnight Sensations MTM a few years back - a fun project and as a bonus you can veneer and finish them any way you choose. Still have them somewhere, I need to find a way to integrate them into a secondary system.

I don't have the Madisound kits, but I do have diy Fostex FF85WK and FE107E speakers that are great for nearfield/desktop.

The results are in... I been watching CL and other sites all this time for something cool. You all gave me a good list of models to look for. No Minimus 7s to be had locally.. So I ordered the Dayton B652-AIR. $49 for a pair. They came today. So far I think they are a hit. They fit on the desk nicely, small foot print. Essentially PC speakers, near field, I'm 3 to 4 feet away. bass is fine at that distance and the AMT tweet sounds sweet. I may mount them up on the wall later, I don't like using the word flimsy for them but thay are light feeling. They do fill the office with a lot of sound though. Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.
