Small room with one sub or two?

Hmm. It depends how much bass is on the LP. Also, your TT, cartridge, phono preamp will make a difference in the bass. As you've established that the sub is working fine with FM (some FM stations boost bass, though), the problem will be with the TT end of things. I don't know about the bass output of your phono stage so the other AKers will have to chime in here. About that rumbling: do you live near a busy street? My less well damped Pro-Ject turntable picks up subsonic vibrations from cars/trucks on the roadway and that is heard as rumble in the bass.
