"Smile" to be released.

I have two "completed/reconstructed" bootleg CDs and Brian's CD from a few years back and even though I want badly to love the material, i just don't.

My 45 of Wild Honey bw Windchimes is pretty goovy though.

Hmm, I think I'll have to wait on the reviews on that one. I'm a casual fan of the Beach Boys. It is / could be an interesting album or it may be over produced by deaf engineers/ mastering engineers. The article states that it will be 'The main set will feature a recreation of what the album might have been..' and that makes me a bit cautious.

So no pre-order but I'll pick it up if it gets good reviews.

I am with you on that. The Smile material has its moments. But a lot of it is so Avant Garde as to be unappealing.

I went through my "Smile" phase about 10 years ago with the booted "reconstructed" material.

Some great moments and then lots of unfinished, "acid dada" (to quote Mike Love) pieces.

Still, I'm glad this is finally coming out and I hope there are some surprises that make this an album worth getting.

The Smile material is pretty much like Pet Sounds for me. I enjoy some of it quite a bit but find an equal amount somewhat tedious.

I'm sure I will eventually pick it up at some point.

Not to go off track

if you have not read Brian Wilson's auto "God Only Knows"then do so. It's one of life's mystery that he is still alive.
As far as Smile I will pass, some of it is uneven and that period of Brians work was hit or miss for me.

His 2004 album version left me mostly feeling confused, though I love Pet Sounds. Some nice moments, yeah, but it feels like bits and pieces of ideas, not full ideas...

I've loved Purple Chick's boot and I love Brian Wilson's version as well. Amazing stuff. I'll pick this up for sure.
