I just wanted to post here on the Yamaha board about how I am continually impressed by my old Yamaha DSP a2070. The sound is crystal clear; every speaker that I try with this unit is improved by it!! The DSP programs are fun to play with; right now I am into listening to classical music as background sound 24 hours a day in my work/bedroom area. The Church/Freiburg mode is interesting. I run it in two-channel mode often also. I think it is listed as 80 watts, which has baffled my more watts is better viewpoint on equipment. Anyway, my interest is up, I am sold on Yamaha!

I have nothing but Good things to say about the Yamaha units I have owned. I have a Yamaha AVR RX-V2400 from 2003 that still works like new. Replaced it with a HD model RX-V1900 that I am really happy with.:music: I do use a extra fan on all my amps/AVR etc. and made sure the units have air space above them (no stacking ) the more power the amps make the more heat.
I have owned a 1986 Yamaha FJ1200 motorcycle for 20 years and 61,000 miles later with no engine problems.:thmbsp: Yamaha made a good oil coolier for it.:D

'Very pleased with the sound quality of my recently acquired Yamaha CT-600 tuner. It is my first Yamaha piece.

My T-80 tuner always pleased me. Have moved to HD with Sony tuner. Still use a 12 year old Yamaha rec in TV room.

** Update - my Sony bit the dust (lightning, I think)..they discontinued it, but I think I will stay away from HD

Anyway - the regular FM on my T-80 sounds better .. the high end seems smoother, and the whole sound seems less compressed...I am listening to WFCR in Amherst MA

I've always loved how Yamaha's sound. Probably the best sounding receiver that I've owned was my RX-V1. I almost cried when it died. I'm glad to have picked up more of their gear.

The DSP-A1000 and 2070 were great units. The Dolby Pro Logic decoding is way obsolete for HT but the DSP modes are indeed a lot of fun for audio. I find the stock settings a bit overdone, but by turning down the effect levels a bit it can be very natural with the right recordings. I always liked the Jazz Club settings. For someone who has a lot of soeakers lying around, picking up one of them for the little money they sell for is a great deal in terms of hours of fun per dollar.

I agree the RX-V1 is an awsome piece, I use mine in 2 channel mode daily in our living room system. My new HT receiver is the RX-V1800 and the DSP settings are better than ever for music.

What killed it? One of the common problems with the V1 is a main channel drop out and the fix is simply putting a patch cord in the pre-out/main-in jacks.

I was using some powered speakers and one of speaker amps shorted. I haven't tried to fix the V1.

Yamaha amps, int amps, and receivers are to die for! Aside from the int amp listed in my sig, I also have a beautiful CR-620 and my first real audio piece was a humble but wonderful CR-220.

I'm not sold on Yammie turntables but I love the cassette decks. My 2-head K-960 blows my Nak CR-3 out of the water.

i traded one of my sansui's for a yamaha R-9 and happy i did. i was so impressed by the power this beast can handle(especially at 3ohm loads) that i don't miss a single thing about the AU-d7 i traded for it. it's actually my favorite and main amp now. it even replaced my beloved sansui 5000x for main amp duty. after experience this amp i just fell in love with yamaha. i never heard the older CR models yet tho.

Yamaha TTs... I'll play the PX-3 for ya gmku. Nothing wrong with your JVC or SL1200 wheel of steel of course.

I just got my Yamaha CR-800 in today. Running it with a pair of Dyncao A25s for now. Unit is in pretty good shape. My first Vintage Yamaha.

Natural Sound. Hmmm. I find it a little bright and forward so far. Better detail than a Marantz or a Pioneer but I find I have to use the Loudness contour to get a little more bass. The sound is, for lack of a better word, 'clean'. And that's good. But can you have too much of a good thing? I need to listen a little more.

Maybe try some other speakers. I have some EPI-100s and a set of ADS L520s on the way. Then there are the Polk Monitor 10As I'll be picking up soon.

I know from reading posts here that a number of you like Monitors with Vintage Yamahas. It goes without saying that I like Polk. lol

ADS will be bright, I'm not a fan of their tweeters. Had a pair ads 810's and tweeter gave me headaches.

In the 80s I went to a high end audio store to buy me a kick a$$ stereo system. When I went inside I seen a McIntosh system that I instantly fell in love with. But at the time I couldn't afford it. I ended up buying a Yamaha system that included a M-65 C-65 EQ-60 and a T-1020. Well to make a long story short I still have that same system after 25+ years. And not once have I had any problems with it. Every year I pop the hoods on them and clean out the dust and thats it. IMO that was a investment well made. Over the years I have bought other yamaha pieces with the same results. So you can see from my story I am Sold on Yamaha. Oh and I still can't afford McIntosh.:D
