Solen capacitors seem very, very bright on my JBL L26s. Recommendations?

I just installed some Solen caps for my JBLs and they seem pretty bright. Not bad...but bright. Any have any recs on capacitors that can tone that down if i choose to? Daytons?

Yes, well within the original tolerance, which would have been either 10 or 20%.

Decades are bright speakers to begin with. Don't really know what would tame the tweeters. Redid a pair of L36's with IC caps if I remember right. Way to bright for me.

I have a pair of 36s that im not going to re-cap because its just right. I may try those other caps to tone it down i feel the urge to open it back up.

I made the mistake of recapping some NHT's (hoping for a little better sound) with the Dayton's. At some point I'll be replacing them with Clarity.

The original Obbligato caps work well in NHT speakers. I believe those have been replaced with the Silver series.

I just looked, there are no Clarity CSA caps on eBay. There is a limited selection of older out of production caps that might or might not be real Clarity caps. Always best to buy from authorized businesses.

Dayton caps work fine in a dark speaker- I put them in my Dynaco A-25's and they sound really good, but in a bright speaker they would probably sound like arse...

Parts Express has a new series of Jantzen Mylar capacitors. They should be much smoother in tone. Plus, really good pricing.

Experimenting is half the fun of restoring vintage speakers. I've used the Parts Express non-polar electrolytics and have not heard anything offensive. If the originals are electrolytic, I don't think the PE caps will be a down-grade.

PE sells a lot of these type and there are mostly 5-star reviews, worth a try...

I am referring to the SA series (I did say 630 volt), and there are plenty currently on ebay though maybe not in his desired values. That's what I use in combination with the Audyn Q4s and that's where I got them. The Audyns are brighter. Like I said, the SAs are HUGE. In fact, there are a lot of different ClarityCap "formulations" on ebay.
