Here are a few pics from last Weeks CEDIA show in Atalanta. A good time was had by all. The XR200s were powered by the MXA60 amp section and the neighbors complained about the volume. MXA60 will swing about 150 watts per channel so it did sound very good.

Some more photos. MC452 and MC302 were hits and left many with binding post envy. On C50 and C48 all of the AC, control, or digital circuitry is placed on the lower level of the chassis which is used as a shield with the analog section on the top.

A few more. C48 and C50 both have multi-band tone controls, C48 five band and C50 8 band. They both have two phono sections one MM and the other Moving Coil with full on the fly adjust ability from the remote control. Each has a dedicated 32bit 192KHz USB input as well as four assignable digital inputs for legacy components also at 32/192. All digital data is processed and retimed before it goes to the DAC to kill jitter and deliver the best possible sound.
The USB input will work with any MAC or PC and all music programs.

On the USB input from a Mac/PC. Are there drivers needed on the host computer? What connection rates are supported? Have not seen many that can do more than 16/48 over USB without drivers.

Data rates of up to 32 bit 192 KHz are supported. McIntosh is the only one doing this so far and yes it will work with both PC and MACs.

Just open your music management program on the puter, connect USB and it is plug and play. You can use the C50 or C48 remote to navigate on the computer.

McIntosh knows where their gear is selling and to whom. Hong Kong is their largest single dealer outlet and has been for a few years. Wonder what overall percentage of McIntosh ships to Asia?

Thanks Ron for the Pictures. I have been waiting for McIntosh to come out with a pre amp with a Dac for a while. Looks like the wait is over. Currently, I use a computer to store my music files using uncompressed high resolution files and run them to my C220 via an exteranal Dac. I have been doing this for years and sold my CD player a while ago. Storing my music files on the computer has been a new direction for me and many others. It's amazing how things change.

C45 and C50 both are value pieces compared to other preamps which do not have the features. MC302 is a bit more than MC252 but you get the larger chassis that runs cooler, new binding posts, Thermal Track outsputs, bigger meters, etc.
