Programmable tone controls, that tells me digital controls. I guess we'll never see anymore true analog pre-amps. What a shame! Question Guys. I've compared CD's I've bought with down loads on the internet and the down loads have all been flops. That's downloading and making CD's in my iMac and playing and comparing them against the commercial original. What's worse is comparing a pristine original LP played with a Dynavector and a reissue downloaded from the net. TWI
 
The tone controls in C50 and c48 are analog. What input uses these is programmable. There is nothing wrong with high bit rate digital but low bit rate will never equal the sound quality of pure analog.

Am I the only one who wishes they still had a 100 - 200 watt amp that was in the 3 - 5 inch form factor.

I would love to see a 100 watt autoformer mac amp for ~2000 bucks or possibly even a 50 watt amp for even less.

Don't get me wrong I would love to have a 452 but I feel like there's a hole in the MC lineup now that the smallest solid state stereo amp they sell is 300 watts.

The McLineup does include two superb sounding 75 and 100-watt amps, if you don't mind the care and feeding of tubes :thmbsp:

Why! If I may ask?

I like the feature in MC252 where on can run mono, it schould at least have this feature in MC302. This is why I like McIntosh where one can run mono or stereo. It is almost the same price between MC252 and MC302 but without the mono feature. Don't understand why it is only in stereo!

Ron, some questions:

1. Is the MC302 Quad Balanced, and if so, does that mean that all Mc SS amps are now that way, or will the lonely 252 soldier on?

2. Are the DACs in the C-50 and C-48 future-upgradeable?

3. What's next? :D

Believe the MC252 has been replaced by the MC302, so it will not soldier on. The MC501 is also gone and will be replaced with the MC651, if memory serves. Few other changes, as well. More details on that 'other' forum.
