Someone Has to Speak Up....

This is probably why they ask "you" to put in that kind of info when posting about problems.

People trying to get thru 2026 forum security with 20 yr old machines and OS's.

Yeah that will work flawlessly
The same can be said about the site itself, as Ms. Grumpy noted in her reply, "what AK is using could be interpreted as outdated,"
( not an exact quote)
so applying 2026 security features to an outdated system could cause issues, and in fact it is,
I'm sure it's a bit of a combo platter for some. But not everyone having issues are using outdated stuff.

Lets just say that the 'external influences' have forced a reduction in the number of client configurations that will work without additional effort.

Imagine how difficult it is to keep the Bots and whatever out, while still allowing bona-fide clients (you and me) to access freely.

There is/was one AK user who swore by IE6, and said it was the best browser for AK and pretty much anything else on the Internet he wanted to see, I wonder how he's getting on. ;) (I guess much earlier AK 'upgrades' probably will have forced him to re-think).

The last I heard was that the issue he had (blocking of his Mac client or IP address) had re-occurred, he replied to the DM Mrs Grumpy had sent, explaining it had happened again. Feeling that I was superfluous at that point I bowed out, as Dave and Mrs Grumpy were then in direct communication about the issue.

He was also aware by then that if he forwarded the on-screen reference number of the disconnection notice to Cloudflare they would act on it to get him unblocked.

Sorry...I spend 55 to 65 hrs a week at work....I like to sit on my azz and do mindless sh%t when I have off. SO this place is a favorite to do that.
I absolutely understand, I own a business(audio/video and some other things thrown in the mix), it never stops..
I do silence my phone at 9:00 pm, and wake it back up at 7:00 am.. but even between those hours, I'm working on something(business related).. and, because I'm single(never married, no kids), I take care of everything domestically.. working in the yard is the most peaceful for me, but this site does provide a 'safe haven' where I can sit for a few minutes and read, learn, share interests..

I hope he gets sorted out, he's been missed.
I think that same issue is happening to the member I mentioned previously that's been dealing with it for about 6 months now. He also reached out to Ms. Grumpy, he believes there is some kind of snafu with a cloudflaire issue.

Still (mainly) monitoring on this iPhone - The following message is still coming up on my M4 Mac Mini (via Safari and Firefox), with and without the VPN.

Cheers, Dave

The bottom line is this

Its not the staff or even AK's site

Its not the people visiting the site

Its not the software/programs said people are using

Its low life , scum sucking , loser , greedy , evil , assclown actors bombarding this site and any other site with crap

And I am afraid its NOT GOING TO GO AWAY or GET BETTER

Have a whole bunch of members piping in about how they are IT managers/Internet gurus....How about they step up....just sayin
If this was in part referring to me, it's a software issue and I was mostly a 'hardware guy' - now retired. This issue requires a specific skill set which I have never had. But it does mean that I understand the overall situation.

While the situation continues, if your browser hangs, you're going to have to get used to hitting the 'back button' a few times, hitting 'refresh', or closing your browser and opening it again. :(

Or installing an extension like CacheBuster which does the same thing but is a lot easier...
