Something nice you can do for shelter animals, and it's free

Yes, it is the season for giving, and I understand, for many of us, things are a bit "tight" with the economy in the tank and all that.

But there is something nice you can do to benefit animals and animal shelters.

In my bookmark list -- just above my AK bookmark -- I have a bookmark for this Web site:

http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/...3&ThirdPartyClicks=PF-PublicPages-text_Bottom

Every day, before going to AK, I open that page, click on the purple box on the upper right side, and "donate" a portion of pet food to an animal shelter that will be paid for by one of the companies sponsoring the Web site. I then proceed to AK.

To do this costs nothing, and takes only a few seconds, but is helps animal shelters keep operating/feeding the animals in their care. With the economy causing many people to have to give up their beloved animals, animal shelter's resources are stretched thin.

I hope you'll find it in your heart(s) to help in this very simple way.

Some people who have met me might think I'm a hard-ass SOB, but the truth is I am a big softy when it comes to critters.

Other than the desire to help animals, I have no other "interest" in the site.

Thank you.

Good idea. I made it a fav. also. Warning..do not read any of the stories on there. You will have to blow your nose.

Also signed the bring back the wolves petition.

Thanks for posting.:thmbsp: I was fostering dogs untill about 2 years ago untill I adopted one of them.

I have seen a lot of sad posts here on AK from people who's pets have passed on. If you are not ready to adopt another yet, try fostering a dog or cat (or bunny, ferrit, bird, etc...). Very rewarding knowing you gave another animal a chance to be adopted!

Definitely a good cause.

I read a number of the stories there. Reading stories like that can help restore faith in people.

Done. Thanks for the link. I'm sitting here with two shelter-rescue cats right now, nicest creatures you'll ever meet.

.....have been clicking that purple box for awhile, like about 2 years....posted it one time awhile ago....thanks for making it current.....

Done. Thanks for providing the link! I will go there every day and click the purple button. I am also going on one of the sites ( North Shore Animal League) that is linked to there to sponsor an animal in a shelter who will probably not be adopted. I am going to sponsor a Chihuahua that is one of three from the same litter that were all born without front legs.

You can actually set it up to send you a reminder email everyday if you choose.

One other nice thing that you can do for shelters and no one really thinks about it, but if you have old towels or blankets the shelters can really make use of them. I buy used towels and blankets at garage and thrift stores for cheap and drop them off occasionally. They really appreciate them! :thmbsp:
