Songs That Sound Like Other Songs

[Kalev]

Violent Femmes - "Hey Nonny Nonny" and The Rolling Stones' - "Sympathy for the Devil"

I suspect it is intentional on the Violent Femmes' part. I really like both songs though!

[daza152]

everything by AC DC and they are proud of it too.

[hellhound94]

Need You Now by Lady Antebellum is a dead ringer for Eye in the Sky by the Alan Parsons Project.

[anytune]

mhardy "well... there's He's So Fine and My Sweet Lord"

mentioned in post #8

Another blatant example is MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This" stolen directly from Rick James' "Super Freak."

[xlbee]

Does anyone think "Tillsonberg" by Stompin' Tom sounds like the Spiderman theme?

doh... dang it... I looked, too (just not hard enough).

and now I have

Tillsonberg, Tillsonberg
Does whatever a Tillsonberg can

stuck in my head.

I'm just not gonna look at this thread enny more.

;-)

It's Only Rock & Roll - The Rolling Stones...

sounds like...

Bang a Gong - T Rex

...but then, the Stones 'borrowed' from so many artists, it's hard to pick just one.

[Kalev]

"One Potato, Two Potato" by The Music Explosion has the exact guitar part and structure of "Little Black Egg" by the Nightcrawlers.

[ruffian]

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and the Alphabet Song.

[jimfet]

The beginning of Hang on Sloopy and The game of love...start with the exact same drum beat.

I read somewhere that was done with permission. Can't vouch for the truth or not of that though.
